PCV Valve Problem

Hi All,

I have a 2002 GT its having problems starting takes two to three times before it will stay on I have read all post on IAC and I will change it soon but I have noticed that the Hose going to the PCV Valve is collaped when it is Idling when I rev the engine alittle the hose opens...could the PCV valve cause the starting problem?...the car runs fine when it finally starts.

Any Help would be great thanks.

The hose could certainly be your problem. There is so much vaccum that a standard type heater hose will not work. From the factory all of our cars come with a plastic tube from the pcv valve to the intake. Someone must have taken yours off and replaced with heater hose. You should just go to the ford dealer and buy a new plastic tube. Should be pretty cheap. Do this quickly as its not good to run your car all the time with that hose sucked closed. Only other thing that will work is a hose that has a steel coil spring inside to keep it from collapsing, autozone doesnt have these parts.

Could be the PCV valve is trashed and needs to be replaced as if its failed or failing (IE getting stuck closed/open) I could see that hose problem happing. Could this be why it starts weird? no way it has anything to do with that. Its nothing more then sucking vaccum so it wont matter if the valve is stickying (what it sounds like hose wise) or working it will still pull vaccum so it wont effect starting.

Intake

The Intake Looks Stock....But I did find a Receipt in the glove box that states that the intake was ported and polished. there is also a receipt for a Diablo Chip and programming service......also does anyone know about how much the IAC Valve is?.....I tried cleaning it but the car still has problems starting...also is this a dealer part or can i get it at a parts store?

PCV Valve

Also on the PCV Valve it does have a plastic hose from the intake all the way until about four inches from the PCV valve then it turns into a rubber hose and that is the one that is collapsing I took the PCV valve off and shook it the check valve does rattle and the valve is clean.....should that rubber hose be a plastic one too?

IAC is @$69.00 thru us, DO NOT BUY aftermarket:nono:
just because a PCV valve rattles, doesn't mean squat. a PCV valve should be changed @30k.

2002 uses a special PCV valve and hose that you'll have toget from a dealer(or us)
