4.6l pi intake manifold

hello all, today i found out that i have a crack in or near my thermostat housing on my intake manifold of my 1998 mustang gt. there is coolant and a little bit of water coming out and trickling on top of the block...i want to upgrade to the PI intake manifold to keep this from happening again. i know there are kits out there that have gaskets and all, but i was just curious if any of you guys had any comments or knowledge concerning the swap.
i have a k&n 63 series air charger
flowmaster 40 series and
bbk shorty headers (SS)
will the manifold bolt up okay to my car? i am pretty sure it will, because i have read a lot about it on this site i just want to know what i am getting myself into and if the valley or whatever it is called that is the bottom part of the manifiold could be cracked??? i dont think it is but a mechanic was tryin to tell me i needed the whole new housing and that i couldnt just replace that plastic manifold part! he also wanted to charge me 1100.00 $ to fix it.

so once again thank you in advance for the info guys!!

i had the same thing happen to me, went on ebay found the replacement manifold which comes with the aluminum coolant crossover its the PI manifold that they put on the cars from 01 or 02 an up (i think in 99 an 00, they still put plastic crossovers on), i diddnt use the adaptor plates (maybe i should have but w/e) i think i paid 180 for mine and it came with gaskets an all the torque specs.
It definitely was a very easy job just a lil time consuming.

do i have to have PI heads in order for this to work????

i am tryin to find a kit that sells the gaskets and everything that i need,
and i called americanmuscle and the guy on the phone told me it wouldnt work if i didnt have PI heads, swore on it.......so i am a little confused

no you do not have to have PI heads, its a little trickie to-do but can be done.
we sell an install kit for @$80.00 less the intake, if you need the intake we can supply you wth one aswell for $249.00

here's a good site that has a info on what you are going to do. same thing happened to me and i put a pi intake on non pi heads. just a lil dab of rtv is all it takes.

what did u have to use rtv on? i did the swap with stock heads, and had to do no modifications and nothing was tricky about it

the water jackets dont line up perfectly. just a little insurance i guess. plus there was a small pit in my head by the water jacket. so you didnt use any rtv at all??

Randy, what does this kit include? adapter plates from NPI to PI or does this kit still require RTV?
I already have the PI intake (only, no collent tube, or thermostat cap)

thanks
Will
