Need Advice
I just bought Underdrive pullieys and I'm gonna get them installed over the weekend and my question is.. should i advance my timing?? if so, by how many degrees?? and is it worth me advancing my timing?? my engine is completely stock, the only thing it has is: K&N Intake, Catback Flowmaster Exhaust, and soon to be BBK Pullies..
Thanx:postwhore: |
you dont have to, your motor doesn't have that many mods where it would help that much. good luck on the pulleys.

Do you have a timing adjustor or chip? If not then how are you going to advance your timing?

a shop will have to chip it or otherwise tune it or install an adjustable timing wheel like steeda makes. In any case that's a global adjustment to an electronically controlled motor. You'll get maybe a couple hp peak from it and have worse drivability. Get a power adder and then you can mess with the timing.

Like red said, using a timing adjuster like Steeda's is the wrong way to do it. |
Ain't like the old days. You can't just advance the timing as easily as you once could.
You either need a chip or hand-held tuner OR a Steeda Timing Adjuster. A tuner/chip will adjust the timing proportionally just like the car currently does. A TA will adjust the timing the same across the board. IMO, a TA is really only good for a Drag car. When racing, you are prety much at WOT the whole time and the rpms are abover 4,000. This way the driver can tune the car by hand for higher octane fuel then return to the street and pull the timing back to normal. |
