fuel pump and pressure question
 

ok earlier today i ran a fuel pressure test on my car b/c of a bunch of problems my car was doing, anyway it came up 15 psi and its supose to be around 35 - 40 psi right? so i need a new fuel pump, i take it to a place and they said i need a whole new fule module?? which is around 400 dollars?? they said they cant just put the fuel pump in they gota take the whole fule tank down and put in a whole new module, does that sound right? or could i just put in a whole new fuel pump?

its a 98 gt my mods are l/t's, o/r h pipe, flowmaster 40's, 410's and diablo tune, with the next 2 months ill be doing the pi head and intake swap and throwing on vt stg 2 cams, i dont really no what kind of fuel pump to get, if anyone could help me out id appreciate it!!

well, ther talking about the fuel pump asbly.
in 1998 Ford went to a pump & sender as one asbly on Mustangs, so thats what there calling a "module" we can do better on the price of the part(fuel pump asbly) but I would need to know if your car is a calf ems or non calf
best bet is a stocker in the tank and if you need more, a T-Rex on the outside, inline.

thanks alot randy! how would i no if my car is a calf ems or non calf? also what fuel pump would you recomend me getting? the problem is when i put my foot on the gas it just keeps bogging so i need 1 i just dont no which one i should get

get me the vin # or the calb code off the cert label, have you changed the fuel filter? and I recommend another stock intank asbly, if you need more then the Avaitor pump is the next best direct fit.

You should be able to just replace the pump shouldn't you? If that's the case I have a BRAND NEW vortech 255LPH pump for 96-98 cars sitting waiting for an owner. 125 shipped.

With all the mods and additional power you're looking at a simple stock replacement isn't going to be the best idea IMO.

yes, all you're doing is replacing/swapping pump motors. now Im not sure that 255 will work on 1998's as '98 is a strange year and I have heard of some aftermarket pumps not lasting on 1998's, but for $125.00 its a steel

I've done fuel pump installs on a handfull of 99+ cars and it's pretty easy other than having to drop the damned tank. You can totally do it in your driveway and not pay 400 bucks to some shveck.

If itll work (well) then buy reds pump.
