cams install?

I just got me a set of vt stage 2's and comp springs. I can't decide if I want to attempt this install myself. So far, I have done all of my mods myself but they were nowhere near as difficult as the cam install looks to be. I was quoted $500 from a local speed shop that does really good work.

I'm just looking for some opinions from you guys that have experience with this. Is it worth $500 to have them do it or do you think I should go ahead and do the install myself? Thanks for any help.

Install isn't too bad if you have all the right tools. But for $500, Id say let the shop do it, that way if they mess it up, it comes back on them. :t:

$500 is not a bad price, I made a small video of the pics I took when me and my dad did the install on my car..

Thanks for the feedback. I've decided to just take it to the speed shop and have him do it. This being the main reason:

Can't wait to take it in and feel the power I get from the new cams!

Change of plans. Apparantly the $500 was just for the cams and with the springs I'm looking at around $800-900.:ohsnap: Looks like I'm going to give this a go myself.
He said there are 3 different types of heads on these cars and you have to get the right tool to do the springs. Anybody know how I can tell which tool I need? Thanks for any help.

Thanks for the ebay link. Yeah, I've been reading up on those links you posted in that thread for awhile now. Did you ever end up degreeing your cams?

Nope. Some day Id like to see what the timing is and figure out how far off they are.

will I need to have my car dyno tuned or can I just send my chip back and have it reburned for the camswap?

csledd 01-23-2007 10:58 PM

I would go for a dynotune.. a lot more safe
