header question

hey im thinkn about getting longtube headers. someone tell me how much of a pain in the ass it will be to get them installed. what is everything i have to do? keep in mind i have a lift. and yes they are longtubes.

with a lift it's only a PITA. Without a lift it's a world class PITA.

I've seen dropping the K-member as the preferred path to the install. Without dropping the K it borders on impossible for most guys. Since you have a lift, that's the way I'd go.

Everything you have to do is a seriously long list of steps. Suffice it to say that you support the motor, drop the K-member, pull the manifolds, install your new pipes, reinstall the K-member, turn off rear O2's with a tune(r), drive and enjoy.

Hope that helps a little. It's not terribly complicated but it will take the better part of a day to get them in.

Since youve never done it before, expect it to take at least a day, but plan on two just in case. Ive got a write up on my site.

i got a set of mac l/t's we used my friends lift and yes we did have to drop the k, it made it so much easier tho it took us about 10 hrs because we had a prob with 1 of the drives side header bolts, its easier with 2 people, macs are good for the price and sound awsome to

would there be any problems if i lowered my car? would the longtubes scrape?

They will sit lower than your exhaust is now. even mine make it sit lower and ive got shorties. Mines lowered and it scrapes on steep inclines, but im good over most speed bumps.

im not havin any scrapping problems at all, then again my car isnt lowered :kekekegay: i dont think there would be a prob my friend is runnin h&r's he got a 1.5'' drop all around then only time it scrapes is when he flys over a speed bump lol

alright. im gettn mac lt headers and the midpipe for them with cats for like 400. in the ad the guy said "Drivers side header has an o2 bung added". what does that mean??? here are pics.

smg32208 01-21-2007 01:07 PM

also how much are o2 extensions new?

03gtmustang 01-21-2007 07:31 PM

Theres just an extra opening on the headers. Probably used for a wideband a/f sensor. New extensions are about $50. Id send those to Jet Hot before installing.
