think something is messed up bad on my 2v
I was out and about today and I started my car up after driving it around all day with no problems and I heard this horrible knocking sound coming from the drivers side of the engine. I hurried home and found that one of the coil packs kind of blew up where it hooks on to the spark plug. The rubber boot disentegrated and the spring is just hanging out of it. Also the plug was just sitting in there like it was forced out and the part of the plug where it is gapped (don't know the name) is touching. There is no gap clearance like it has been smashed together to make contact. Anybody know what may have caused this? Thanks for any info.

I posted on MD too. But it sounds like you had a spark plug blow out of the hole. Have you recently changed spark plugs? What did you torque them to? Are you running stock heads/ cams?

Probably over torqued them. Torque them to 13 ft. lbs next time. :beerchug:

If you don't feel like geting a torque wrench, tighten them hand tight and then using a wrench, turn it 1/16th of a turn. That puts you in the 10-15 ft*lbs range.
