'96 Cobra for Parts - Is it worth it?

I have an opportunity to buy a rear-ended 1996 Viper Red Convertible Cobra with 32v 4.6 DOHC engine, 7k miles on the engine. It was declared a total loss but looks like the rear end is the only thing wrong with it. Would it be worth it to buy for $1500 and strip it down and sell the parts?

why not buy it for $1,500 and fix the rear and add a Cobra to your stable?

I dont believe 96 cobras are that valuable.

I don't think it's fixable, i believe it has major frame damage. But the stuff I would want personally is the leather interior, then sell off all the other parts. But i dunno if it's worth the hassle of towing it, storing it, stripping it and selling off the parts and then junking the frame.

I would buy it and transfer all parts to a v6 or GT then sell all the extra parts. It is definitly worth more than 1500 just look at ebay and see how much parts go for.

+1. 1500 for that basket of parts is killer. I'll buy some of the parts off you. I need rear ABS sensors and a handful of other parts. transfer what you need and hook the rest of us up with the extra bits. then sell the carcass to the local salvage yard.

7K Miles on the motor? Dude, if you don't take it, let me know where I can get it at.. That would be rebuild time for my good ol' 6'er.. :shock2:

Ok, i'm gonna talk to a buddy of mine to see if he has room in the shop garage or yard to have it towed to and stripped, I'll keep you all posted on what happens.

Meh, I waited too long, it sold. Oh well, it was for the best, I don't have the time or $ to deal with that, still trying to work on my 5.4 project, which is lacking in funds and having to move on top of that. Super!
