BBK or Mac Headers?
 

Hey on an 02 GT w/ 5-speed o/r prochamber, and magnaflow catback system should i get BBK or Mac Longtube headers? Which is best for this setup? Will the BBK tubes even work with the Mac prochamber?

either one will work for you. i would get mac the bbks have a mean dent in them for the steering shaft

i would get whats cheap :) but really if you want nice shinny ones bbks are good, if you want cheaper ones mac is the way to go. performance wise they arent very different.

Mac here. I havent had any problems and I love the sound.

03, I've got to ask, was the cam/valve spring install worth it? how much power did that get you? did you pay a shop to do it? how much did it cost?

from what i have heard, the mac headers tend to be a pain to reinstall because the flanges are all individual and they may end up warping due to the heat. other than that, cant beat the price and they are a great product!

I have the BBK's they do have a dent for teh steering shaft, but it makes no performance diffrence. I went with BBK because I heard from some guys with the MAC's that they scavenge so well they will suck oil out of your engine ?????

imo pony up for a set of kooks, hookers, or another set that you don't have to drop the passenger header to change the clutch. IT SUCKS!

p.s. if you have an auto, i'm sorry this does not apply to you.

From what I understand, you are able to change the clutch with the Macs in, but if Im wrong, please let me know because I dont wanna give out bad info. The BBK's for SURE have to come out for the new clutch, but imho, you need to put in a new clutch if you ever put longtubes on, just to save the hassle. Id get the Macs, and the only thing Ive read about the oil problem/major scavenging issue is on the 4v cars. Anyone with 2v experience can pipe in and let us know. I know Dan loves his, and has had no problems.

Oh man, that sucks. Well I guess that when and IF I ever get longtubes, a clutch will go down as parts to put in at the same time.

I just recently installed a set of Jet hot long tubes. They are a cheaper copy of the Hooker's. On the good side you can drop the tranny without dropping the headers. On the bad side there is contact with the steering shaft and they are too tight to clear the floor pan so they rattle. I am going to have to drop them and beat the floor pan in a little to get rid of the constant rattling. I would go with the Mac's if I had to do it again, good price and good power. BBK's are supposed to be good but they won't fit around an automatic and the Mac's will.
