Two things: 1st, you may have done too many things to your car at once. As a result, it is difficult to pin down the problem. Second, you are not the first guy to post slower times after a gear swap. It is harder to drive the car with the 3.73's than the stock gears. As you practice, the times will improve.

Also, be sure to compare you DA's. Your 14.4 may be faster than your 14.3 when corrected for altitude, temp, and humidity. Then again, it could be even slower.

When you say the idle is off, what do you mean exactly? I may be able to help better with some details.

As modded, your car has the potential to run in the 13's...even mid 13's, so stay with it, practice, and let's see what is going on with that idle.

tuners/programmers are programmed for stock cars, so the other mods may have thrown off the tune a little. The best bet for a modded car is to get a chip burned for your mods...better yet get one that will adapt to future mods. Some tuners like Tim at Modularpowerhouse.com set the parameters to give you some room for more mods. I know he gives you the ability to add 25 hp before you need a retune.

His mods do not require any custom modifications except for the gears. Any mail order tuner with those mods would not make the tune any different than if the car were stock. Even if it were dyon tuned, the improvement might be only 5 - 8 hp.

What was your 60" for both runs?

His mods don't require a tune, but he got a tuner to try and get more power. Any good and reputable tuner could get more than 5-8 hp, which makes me lean toward a dynotuned chip for the same price.

What I was trying to say about the programmers is that they are designed for a stock mustang, so you will see the best benefits on a stock car. There are many more parameters in tuning, and the programmers are very generic when it comes to that. This is why a chip specifically set up for your car is the best bet all the time. And BTW, modularpowerhouse gets some decent numbers out of stock or close to stock GTs with their tune.

It's kinda far for me to drive from Delaware to N.C. so I'll probably find a dyno shop in the tri state area. I've had one dyno run already and with out the gears and tuner I pulled 244hp at the rear with about 300fptorgue. The dyno guys said that it was pretty good for all engine and being a automatic. I wasen't happy because it didn't sound right to me. I really just want a dyno tune for ****s and grins. I know at the track is where my times matter. I'm setting a good base line for now. In march I'll be going with a supercharger. Kenne Bell or procharger? What would be a good foundation to get. Someone give me some good input

Well, Stangdude, the gear choice is really dependant on what blower you end up with. Most people say a max gear for the Kenne Belle is a 3.55 gear due to traction. With the centrifugal supercharger, go with the 3.73's. Good luck, and thats really not a bad baseline. What are your mods?

Only if it makes you drive the car harder? :D

The car will run at higher rpms, but I don't see that decreasing motor lifespan.
