midpipe for a stock catback?
 

I'm trying to decide what to do with my exhaust. I want a bit more power so I'm leaning toward a midpipe instead of a catback for now. How much of a gain can i expect, and how much louder can i expect it to get? exhaust is bone stock right now.

I would say that you will gain about 7rwhp or so. It all depends on the sound that you want because you have to hear it every time you get into your car. Also, the mid pipes have a different sound. An H pipe will have more of a deep, muscle car sound. An X pipe will be more raspy and Nascar sounding. It just depends what you like the most. Also if you are planning on adding a cat back sometime in the near future, try to find a midpipe that will sound good with that cat back.

yea i want more of a deep sound so i'll prob go with an H. Would there be a big difference in sound though? it'll prob be one or the other, a catback or midpipe; not both. If a midpipe can give me a power gain and give a nice sound, I'll prob just get that

its sounds nice and deep with an o/r h pipe. just get that and save up for a catback.

are you getting rid of your cats? that plays a big hand in the loudness area.

I use a VRS o/r X pipe.

I would get springs first, but we have huge speed bumps at school and i already scrape with the stock springs. It's insane, and theres no way to avoid them. And getting rid of my cats, idk, I'm new to this, what should i do?

That must be a ridiculous "speed bump" or you not slowing down to a crawl when you go over it.

The H pipe you picked is a good h pipe. I currently am running a Mac Prochamber also. I have a catted prochamber and am currently trying to get some off road legs to make mine louder.

With an off road h pipe or prochamber you won't pass emissions. It also depends on how loud you want it. I have a MRT catted h pipe and Flowmaster American Thunder catback. It sounds good, but sometimes I wish it was just a little bit louder. If you live in the suburbs, you may also get pulled over for a noise violation with the o/r pipe.

i like both the sounds of h pipes and x pipes but personally have a o/r X on my car just merely becuz i found it for realllly cheap and with my flowmaster cat back i think it sounds pretty good...all these ppl say that the x pipe is raspy...i dunno i notice no raspyness from my car at all... heck everytime i talk to somone and they have me start my car and rev up they can never ever guess weather its a x or a h pipe...the only difference i notice between my car and other cars with h pipes is that the x on my car seems to make a "smoothe" yet reallllly loud sound wheras the h pipes sound more choppy and crackly
