P51 Intake

Is there any benifit to having a P51 Intake Manifold? If so, where can I find one?

If you don't have better heads and cams, it's not worth having.

intake manifold isn't a restriction until you get pretty serious on power.

Looking to do a head change, but as of yet, I'm not sure which ones to go with, or, could I get away with just porting the ones I have? What would be the best bang for my buck? I would like to change out cams too, but then again, I'm not sure which way to go. I want something noticeable, but still have reliability for the street. Any ideas?
I know this will probably mean a new crank, rods, and pistons. Along with some, well alot of suspension changes.

You can run heads, cams, and intake with stock internals. However, I dont recommend reving too high (6300+). For heads and cams look into VT, MPH, and Steen Racing for heads. I know Tim at MPH doesnt like the P-51. I say go with the Buillitt intake, or wait until more come out.

I know VT sells the P51 Intake.

Thats random. We are talking about the P-51. No one has even mentioned heads. And if youve heard good things about Patriot heads then you havent done enough research.

Patriot stage 2 heads, gave me around 45+HP to the wheels. The internals are good till you start throwing power adders with big boost or big shots.

Opps, my bad. Sorry, the gillz. However, I still stand by my statement about Patriot. http://forums.modulardepot.com/showthread.php?t=87742

From all reports so far patriot has fixed the valve guide problem that had plagued them for so long, I'd bet that the %age of bad units that go out is rather small upside all the good ones.

I don't want to start a brawl with you but, you keep linking that thread everytime someone mentions patriot while from what I've seen of it, there was 1 guy that refused to pull his heads and send them back (thinking he has to pull his motor to do so) so he doesn't get his problem fixed. Gunnar offered to repair/refund/replace and he's been complimented by the guys at VT for their outstanding customer service.

Saleen's heads are appearantly working quite well and providing a nice power bump with no glitches so far, so I can't see the logic in continuing this ever present bashing of Patriot. They've done their part and short of just sending out another set and hoping for the return of the defective unit I couldn't ask for better service. I've gotten bad parts from great vendors and when those parts proved defective they came through with replacements right away. That was all I could ask and I don't feel that we're doing a service to anyone by bashing what appears to be a good company with a good product at a good price, even if they let one slip now and then.

Like I said, I don't want to start a post-brawl with you 03gtmustang but I think I have a valid point.

The only reason I keep posting that link is because that is the most current situation. If you do some searching youll find a lot more people with problems also. Im not going to go around searching myself because, honestly, I have better things to do and dont have the time. People need to learn to research a product before they purchase. I dont want to get into an argument either. HOWEVER, I think the main reason people even begin to look into Patriot is because they are cheap as hell. VT and MPH heads are PROVEN and have a lot better history then Patriot, so why wouldnt someone go with them??? Price is the main reason. Now you have to think why Patriots heads are so much cheaper?

Everyone has their own opinion though, and I can respect that. I just think everyone deserves to know a companies past history whether they have fixed the problem or not. I know someone who was using their heads on his GT. It had a built block and everything. He dropped a valve and now the shop that was working on his car wont even sell Patriot stuff anymore.

I wont continue to argue and bash them. Just please do your research before dropping big $$$ on parts. You might end up saving yourself a lot of money even though you're using more expensive parts.

I researched and heard a lot of good info. I know 1300 bucks is pocket change but that's what i spend my pocket change on.

Sorry MOTT...anywho...the P-51...nogo.

MOTT 07-13-2006 06:35 PM

LOL, thanx everyone for the tremendous amount of information. Everyone has an opinion, and that's what this site is for, weather it be good, or bad. I was just looking for some tips on good heads, I got it. Then I was looking for some tips on the P-51 intake, I got that too. All in a round about way, but none the less, I have enough info now to make an informed decision. Thanx guy's, and it's good to see people voice their opinion. Keeps thing lively here, so stand by your products. I will buy a Procharger when the time is right, and I know I will get conflicting reports about everything I buy too, but I want to know all the bad, as well as all the good.

Watch out for those leaky seals, haha.

MOTT 07-15-2006 12:35 PM

I think I read some ware that the leaky seals were due to the fact, that some people fill them too full. When they took a little out, they stopped leaking. Does anyone know if this is the case?
