3'' full exhaust

ok so i bought pace setter headers with the 3'' collector i have a 3'' xpipewith cats an gunna expand the opening of my slp loud mouth 1 exhaust

i read in another forum of everyone saying you will loose alot of low end torque these are the mods that i have currently : mac straightshot intake with 80mm maf, accufab 70mm t.b an plenium 1 inch intake spacer, bbk underdrive pulleys, sct2 programmer, 4.10s, 75 dry shot of zex nitrous

will i be fine with the 3'' i mean i have alot of bolt ons i dont see me loosing alot of low end tq but i dunno please give me your opinions on how much i would loose an etc i already have the exhaust so i cant go buying another one
thanks

with just a bolt on GT i would say you are going to loose a lot of low end torque, you wont have much backpressure :(

Enless you have boost on your car, a true duel 3" is a bit much

blackstallion25 06-30-2006 07:16 AM

wat will happen with not enough back pressure?

Teal_Beast 06-30-2006 07:50 AM

back pressure is the pressure that is built up in the exhaust side of the head, without backpressure, a car looses low end torque, so your car will feel slower down low. However, it should be find up top.

rolling into the throttle from down low it will feel sluggish and unresponsive.

an underfilled a 3" exhaust sounds like azz. You only need 1 part to be 2.5" to make the backpressure return though and then when you get a blower you can replace the 2.5" section with 3" and be done with it.

teal's right though. You'll lose back pressure and low end grunt. Not recommended.

I was going to mention that, just add 1 part restrictin (mid pipe or mufflers) to neck it downto 2.5, then when you go big your just 1 part away from a very free flowing exhaust.

That straightshot, MAF, and intake spacer arent good mods either.

blackstallion25 06-30-2006 11:11 AM

why is my maf intake an intake spacer not good mods??? they make more power why arent they good i dont have money for a supercharger or anything like that

this is about 3'' exhaust not dissing on other peoples mods man

Because you mentioned that your not stock so maybe you wont have backpressure problems, but a bigger MAF wont give you more power, and isnt neccisary at all enless you pegging your stock MAF, and an intake spacer is only good for like 1-5hp and some tq

r3dn3ck 06-30-2006 11:17 AM

because they dont' make any but the most marginal of gains for the cost. A cai is good for looks and that's about it. 1-3hp on average. Intake spacer is not that bad but pricey for not delivering much. The MAF is neither here nor there.. it's just more money. Bolt-ons don't really get that much power gain at all. Thus those with more money invested will tell you not to waste your money.

He's not saying your car is crap, or that you're dumb... he's saying you should stop spending on mods that get you nothing and start saving for mods that really do stuff in a big way, like cams, blowers, nitrous, etc... It's good advice but it's also the truth and therefore a jagged little pill to swallow after you've put so much into getting the ones you have. He's not dissing you, he's trying to help you but just with a little less tact than you'd have probably liked.

r3dn3ck said it perfectly. But hey, if you dont want advice from people who have been researching this stuff for years and have hands on expirence with it then thats fine. Good luck with your car.
