Please Help. Pricing for 302 stroker?
Ok guys, Can anyone give me a realistic estimate of all the parts needed to bore out my engine to a 302? If you can, please include what most shops charge for labor and everything.
And where could I get a complete kit? And what kind of gains could I see? |
i dont think we can bore out our motors to that degree...i think we can only stroke it...srry if this was off topic..but maybe im wrong
|
you're probably right. I honestly hae no clue what goes into modding the actual motors.

It's possible I have seen a few kits out there but heres the problem that lies before you. You bore the cylinder too much or stroke it too long and you may have too much power which can blow other components. If you bore too much you could weaken cylinder walls and thus ruin the block.
In my opinion I would just buy a built short block and call it a day that way you know everything will be built to handle the power. |
I appreicate the feedback, the main reason I'd ever consider a bore is to get power on a budget. But then again, I have no clue how much this will cost
|
power on a budget is what jon uses to get high..hahah...
but in all seriousness...modifying an engine is far from budget conservation....i would buy a built block that would handle what u wnat....stroker or not....my $0.02 |
It's definitely possible and there are kits. You have to bore AND stroke a 4.6 block to get it to 5.0, but it isn't cheap and the gains are not that substantial.
