You may be able to piece it together cheaper....... |

Don't BS yourself into not getting the PI intake, that aluminum cross over was put in to eliminate the cracking that is PRONE to the plastic units! If you've got the cash to do this, NOW would be the time to change cams/springs. BTW, if you are a decent wrench, find a 99-04 in a wrecking yard that has been stuffed and take the top end to a machine shop for the basics, it COULD save a few bucks.

get the intake like Karls04 says.
I'd be concerned with PTV contact on such a radical cam but the thing will be a LOT faster than it used to be. You'll be at 10:1 compression so you'll want to stay with premium gas after the swap even if you're not tuned. I'd build a bottom end while you're at it so you have a totally fresh motor. Cheeck your local craigslist.. there's usually someone selling a PI motor complete for peanuts and then you'll have a repository of spare parts too. |
Yeah, you do have to get the intake, non pi are tear drop shaped and the pi's are more rounded square shape.
You could port and polish the non pi heads and stuff it with some cams. The PI heads flow a tad better at first, then it gets better going up the lift, but at .500" the PI flow the same CFM on intake as the non PI. But the PI do flow better on the exhaust side at .500" . At .550 the non PI flow better than the PI on intake side, but still not on exhaust side. If you stage 2 ported them, they would flow WAY better than the pi heads. But the pi heads are now a dime a dozen on ebay and it would be a cheaper route. |
there's some workaround that seems semi-popular but the words "gross gasket misalignment" were in several writeups so why half-azz it when you can whole-azz it just as easiily.
