Anyone replaced their speakers?

I didnt know where to post this, but it is somewhat tech related so here goes. My right front door speaker is blown. I have the Mach 460 system and would like to know if anyone has replaced these speakers. If so, any tips on what brands and what size I would need. Thanks

6 1/2 is the size, although you may have to adapt the screw holes,. no biggie.
If you have the Mach 460 tweeter pods then go with a componants. If you can't swing componants a good coax is just fine. Try not to use triax, they take away from the sound too much and tend to muddy things up. Brands -again, it depends on several things - what you have to spend, what your music tatses are and what your personal experiences are. US and European made brands rule the roost....you can buy Pioneer and Kenwood all day long just about anyplace and they are fine as replacements.
Ebay is a great place to look... :D

definatly go with american.... i install stereos and you get what you pay for... i would suggest the 650csxi-vr from JL audio. the are the best!!! youy pay a little bit more but it is worth it. and if you are going to install subs... definatly go with the JLs. ebay is good just make sure you are buying new products!!!

I don't know much of anything about speakers myself. So I wouldn't be much of any help.

I hear that you can get a lot more for your money by skipping the mach 1000 and just doing other stuff.

Crutchfield is a little expensive but its due to the fact that its car install for dummies. I have pair a of 5 1/4 separates from Infinity and its awesome. I paid around $129 and I had them in my SVO. When I sold the SVO I put them in my Hemi Durango. 5 years later and they still sound awesome. I have some other brand separates in my GT and Im going to get another pair from Infinity since I like how clear it sounds in the Hemi. Factory speakers will never sound as good as the aftermarket speakers even if its from the same manufacturer. The Limited Durango has an Infinity system including separate tweeters. My Infinity tweater sounds 10x better than the Durango factory Infinity. JL audio is an awesome brand but dont think you will need to spend that much money since you are not going to go to Pimp My Ride or any audio competetion. The average person will not be able to tell the difference. Just make sure you get a 6 1/2 with a separate tweeter. My brother also has the Mach system and for $200 he got an Audiobahn amp and a sub (not sure which brand) at circuit city. Went to Walmart got their $30 sub box and let me tell you I was impressed how loud and clear it sounded and I have had many systems.

Did they change the speaker size in '99. I thought the size was 6x8/5x7. That's what I have in the '96.

No, everything is pretty much the same in all 94+ models, however, some speakers can adapt to the mounting location depending on the hole alignments. You'll have to research which speakers will do that but it's not a problem..... :)
