VT stage 2's or COMP XE 270's

Which cams do you guys think are better? Are there any big differances between the two? Thanks.

well they are very close to being the same cams, just some small differences. I read a lot about the 270's over on MPH and MD, lots of people were having issues with PTV contact with the 270s. Some people were saying it's because our stock pistons aren't dished out enough for those cams. Some people are also running them with no problems either though.

Personally I went with VT because I've only heard good things about them. Just remember either way you have to do valvesprings upgrade. Do you ever plan to S/C your car? I know the VT Stage 2 N/a cams are terrible for s/c platforms because it pulls so much boost right out the exhaust and never uses it.

Thanks for the input. I don't ever plan on going with a S/C. Do you know if either one has a more aggressive idle than the other one? Thats what I'm going for. Is it my imagination or do cams also make your exaust louder?

I dunno how aggressive the Comp's idle is.. I know the VT is pretty sweet. It does make your exhaust sound louder for sure, also decreases gas mileage with that lol.

here's a link to some vids of 03gtmustang's car with the vt stage 2's.. i love the way it sounds after he revs it up http://www.dndgarage.net/picturesvids.htm

If you go comp 270's, you have to replace the valves and/or cut the pistons. They the valves lower than the vt stage 2's and will make connection with your stock pistons. If you go blower, get blower cams first. You'll still see an increase in power but it won't have a rough idle like the stage 2's or 270's would.

I like the comp 270's they make some awsome power. You can run them with stock pistons you just have to time the correctly or they hit. its been covered on MD anyone who had PTV problems retimed them correctly and it went away.
