service engine soon WTF?
today my service engine soon light came on and i figured it was just cause im about to get up to 10,000 miles but i read it in the manual and it says it comes on wen something with the emissions is wrong and i just put my exhaust on and theres a wierd smell coming from the exhaust
does anyone know wats going on or has anyone had this problem? please help |
Go to a auto parts store and tell them to check to see if its throwing any codes. Most likely emissions or your IAC...I hate that damn IAC
|
whats the IAC and watever is wrong do you think it will be expensive to fix cause i spent ALL my money on the exhaust hahha:bash:
|
What did you do exhaust wise? I doubt its the IAC unless your idle has been wierd
|
It could be any one of a million things honestly, gotta get the code read before you can start speculating. Just make sure the oil pressure and coolant temp haven't dropped out and the engine itself will most likely be fine.

i put slp loudmouths on and an slp x-pipe asnd thismorning the tone of the exhaust dramatically changed and i thought it was very wierd and now the light comes on and im just pissed i thought that this would just be an easy mod no problems and now sumthins ****ed up
|
Go pull the codes and let us know what the codes are and we'll go from there

1st the wierd smell is the coating inside the new pipes burning off. Mine had so much of it that it smoked for about 10 minutes before it burned some of it off.
2nd the check engine soon light is because you dont have MIL eliminators. There is nothing to worry about. Your car is running fine. That code does not affect the performace of the car. Buy MIL eliminators, hook them up, and the light will go off. |
I have mil eliminators i will sell you!! if you have an off raod without mils your light will come on
|
If you put an off-road X Pipe on your car (as in not cats) and are now complaining about the SES being on, we are really going to flame your ass, so be prepared for that....you deserve it - LOL
If that is not the problem, then I would bet you have an exhaust leak and the X-pipe is the culprit. A leak in the front side of the x-pipe will throw a o2 sensor code (lean condition). Often times, you need to just re-tighten the bolts a few days after installing one. You may need to drop it down and re-align it...I had to do that twice with mine. |
haha no i put in a catted x-pipe and i fixed it today in my shop at work and the pipe slipped out of a cat thats why it smelled and thats why it was so loud. i put everything back together and tightend everything with an air gun and everythings workin great i love it and i love the sound of the loudmouths and the x-pipe:pepper:
