:mad: :mad: my cars a 02 gt 50000 miles on it and it is running like crap
examples:
1. it will sit there at idle hot or cold and it will start droppin down in the 500 rpm range and lower and sound like its about to shut off
2. i will be rolling along about around 65 or 70 in the 2000 rpm range and if i step on it it will drop down to about 1500 and then go.....it actually does that at other times, but i main ride around that speed so thats what i notice the most but i think u get it


ive got bbk l/ts, 3.73s, mass air, throttle body, K&N filter

i mean i figure it would be able to out run a stock GT but they r murdering me hell the other night i was so mad that i counted the pipes on my headers to make sure it wasnt a v6

I've had similar problems in both areas late last year. I cleaned my IAC with carb cleaner and has been great ever since.

no auto its a 5-speed

C&L 80 or 90 not really sure but its one or the other

this is my GUESS...

I think its the mass air meter. its reading incorrecting flowing air thus fukking up your air/fuel ratio....

does it do the same thing if you were to install the stock MAF....if so..
...maybe your MAF sensor is damaged?

get it checked out at ford or suttin.

ill do that one of my buddies works at the ford dealership and has his own shop hes goin to go over my car thursday for me we were thinkin it might be the fuel pump

Try cleaning it with some Electrical parts or brake parts cleaner. If you must touch it, use a cotton swab and be extremely careful.

I was thinking the same thing. If he used to much oil then that oil gets sucked in along with the air and clogs that sensor. Check that out and let us know what happens.

The MAF. Leave the filter alone for now. Clean the MAF with electrical or brake parts cleaner. Use a cotton swab very carefully if you can't get it clean with the spray, I can't stress enough how careful you have to be with those tiny filaments. If you break one of those filaments, you gotta get a new MAF.

Another thought is a bad O2. I've known BBK LT's to leak a bit at the head which throws the car super rich and it runs really poorly. Is the car throwing a SES light?

The K&N being recently re-oiled seems more likely but I thought I'd mention the headers since I've seen it happen a few times.

Also, you said 50,000 miles... have you ever replaced the fuel filter? A clogged filter can cause all kinds of sputtering nightmares.

$100ish for the pair. Install isn't hard, but you need a set of jackstands.

if you can't count on your o2's 100% you must replace them. Those are the last in a string of very important sensors that tell your computer how to manage your engine. If they aren't communicating proper signals to your ECU you risk serious engine damage and at minimum the cost of a new set of cats.

Have you done any intake work recently? Maybe you're getting some unmetered air into the intake tract. Try checking the entire intake tract to make sure you don't have a leak somewhere. Make sure you check the bolts at the base of the plenum and the bolts that hold the throttle body to the plenum also. I have heard of those working loose a bit here lately.

How long have you had that MAF? Did the problems start when you put the MAF on?? Are you sure it's calibrated for OE injectors and not 24's or 36's?
