Ok so headers go on wednesday, I just ordered the MGW shifter, and gears will follow shortly. So before I get the s/c put in this summer, is there any other mod(preferably under $500) that any of you would recommend?

arent you worried that if you dont get yer engine built the SC is gonna take yer engine life span down to like... 60k miles?

Thats why im not doing a blower/nitrous for a few years, when i have money and build my motor first.

Thats the only reason i diddnt grab that Vortech for 1k last summer.
Wish i did anyways, but i still wouldnt have it on untill i got the money to get my engine built

i myself decided to go the route of a new built block in teh far future lol

Well, upon getting the s/c, I will start saving again for a built engine(likely MPH), plus, I really don't get on it a whole lot, so I cant see any problems coming up within the first few years of having it.

So...anything I should get? Would anyone recommend a TB/plenum? I dont want it unless itd really help out the s/c a good amount

i know this isn't my thread but, i heard something about putting on a supercharger after around 75,000 is bad for your car. anyone have any information on that?

Im sure you will be ok for a while, but you should definatly plan on getting it done in the future unless you dont plan to own the car more than 3-4 years. Then fawk it!!!!!!!!!

The TB/PLENUM will definatly help on an SC.

a) it's all about waiting tables...that junk rolls in money like no other(well, no other that doesnt require a college degree)

b) its all about saving. I've been thrifty saving since jan 1 til the end of february only spending money on bills and food, nothing extracurricular. then I went spend crazy with the borla exhaust, headers, shifter, and soon gears and who knows what else...as the title of this thread says..

Thats not true there are plenty of people with high miles with a supercharger or nitrous, as long as you dont go crazy with psi or the shots and take the proper percautions that come with having a sc then you should be fine

you couldn't be more correct, sir. The key to saving money: no attachments. Not that I don't want a girl, but none have came by that I'd be willing to stop modding my car for. I'll stop once I meet a decent girl.

if the engine is bad i wouldnt reccomend it, its all about how u take care of your car and what kinda of shape the motor is in, to be sure you should get a compression and leakdown test.

How about 20psi? u also have to know the stock motrs limits too witch is between 400-450

my car has 80k miles. still put down 400 horespower with stock h pipe and stock headers (manifolds)

tb/plenum should help if your going centrifugal. if your going centrifugal forget about that and just put that money aside for a paxton a/a intercooler thats the most complete no brainer kit out there.

My goal is to be able to beat a vette. That being said, anywhere from 350-400 is all I need. And with the full exhaust setup, gears, and 8 psi, it shouldn't be hard to make that much.

you would probably be at 350-370 at most with all those mods on 93 octane. 110 octane you will be up to about 380-390 hp but that will be with a lot of timing. get a intercooler with 93 octane and you will be at or over 400.

hes talking about the intercooler, if you get a good intercooler it will really help

Cams and heads

novi 2000's are way better. belt changes are a breeze and flow a lot more volume. without a intercooler or meth injection you will not get close to 400 with 93 octane.

A new clutch to hold the power of the blower, and try to get it on BEFORE you have the headers installed. You WILL have to remove a header to install the clutch if it has longtubes on it by then...

but if its a shop that does the install, would they charge me extra just because it'd be harder to install?

When you put long tubes on the process of changing your clutch makes it impossible to get to unless you take one of the headers off. And you should know how hard it is to put them on now try and take them off.

Bottom line is either put the clutch in before or during the header install or its going to cost you more in labor to do it afterwards.

Yes, some shops even recharge you for installation of the headers.

I'm at 34k miles and I don't get on it all that much, how much longer would you estimate I have left til I need a new clutch?
