Wheel drama!

2 Attachment(s)
Well yesterday I got my 275/40/17 in that had been on backorder, so I load the tires and new wheels in the iroc and head to Big O to get them mounted and balanced. I pull up and go inside and tell the lady what I've got and then go outside and unload the goods. Now this place sells some decent rims and I have never had a prob with anything there. This old scuzball comes from the back, he was a skinny old man with a scraggly ass beard, Basically he looked like a drunk you'd find under a bridge with a Big O employee shirt on. I get my wheels into the shop and tell the guy I have to run a few errands and I'd be back in a few. As I get in my iroc and pull away, I see the guy struggling to get the rim outta the box, he's got ahold of the wheel above his head and shaking it so the box will fall off of it. So I leave and when I return I see this. Pic at bottom, you can see it better if you open the thumb and click the enlarge icon.

They don't look like much but they are very noticeable to me. Theres about six decent size chips and a scratch. I tell the douche that we have a prob out here, I show him the chips in the clear and this is his exact quote, " I ddddiddn't do that, well I.....I might uh......the machine prob did......" I told him to go get me Jim, the guy that owns the store, I have spent a lotta money here and there's no point in dealing with the retard. I explain to Jim that I don't wanna be a picky bitch but I just bought these wheels and they were in perfect condition when I brought them here and now they are scuffed. I bitch at Jim about it and the douche is standing there with us. Jim explains that the machine couldn't have done it and then tells the douche to go back to work. He then says and this is the quote, " Id be pissed too if that happened to my new rims, that guy is a Dumb F*cck, he probably dropped the pry bar on it. He asked wher I got the wheels and how much they were and how long it would take to get a new one.

Anyway Jim told me to just order a new rim and bring him the bill and he'd reimburse. So my question is, should I feel guilty for maybe costing a retard his job and bitching to get a new wheel for just a few chips that a normal person prob wouldn't even worry about? What would you have done?

I woulda done exactly the same thing as you...it's good he payed for the rim...now go sell that rim on ebay :)

yeah I mean don't ever really feel bad if i one up a mechanic cuz they always try and **** u outa ur money...they wanted to charge me 200 bucks at one place to get my tips welded on...I was like Are u serious....this is a 15 minute job nothing more....they dropped it down to 75 for the whole exhaust welded....

so don't feel bad...

Rabbit 02-01-2006 08:44 AM

****, don't feel bad, they fed up not you! It's just nice that they actually said they would replace it, most places would say "It was like that when we took it out of the box"..

That's why I am glad my father-in-law owns a tire/body shop, I know my stuff will be taken care of, and better yet FREE LABOR and damn cheap prices on parts and tires!!!!!

Stan 02-01-2006 03:15 PM

nah man id do the samething when it comes to s h i t for my stang i got a VERY short fuse.. lol

mustangvsix 02-01-2006 03:28 PM

that is exactly what i would have done, after all you are paying to have your wheels professionally mounted and balanced and returned in the same condition, not all damaged, and screwed up.

Stan 02-01-2006 03:43 PM

still got to get my chrome 03 cobras mounted and balanced now im afraid im gonna get some bum to do it.. hopefully wont get f'ed up..

Jack The Ripper 02-01-2006 03:56 PM

I wouldnt feel bad at all.

The shop has a responsibility to do the work and not to damage your stuff. If the retard is not up to the responsibility they shouldnt let him handle anything that could cause damage. Its good you know the manager there, some places would try to tell you they were like that when they got them.

**** the guy. Let him get fired, if he did this to your rims he will do it to others and cost the company money. Its in the companys best interest to get rid of him. Yah, sucks to be him, but hey, he got a **** deal in life being born a freakin moron, no reason your rims should suffer because because he is stupid. Life is unfair, but that is his problem, not yours.

Lances03SVT 02-01-2006 03:58 PM

I had a few scatches on two of mine after they installed them.Bastages!!

MattJ 02-01-2006 04:24 PM

I wouldnt feel bad at all. They scratch your wheel up, they deserve to replace it.

i love soccermoms 02-02-2006 03:24 AM

i woulda done the same thing too. if the employee fvcked up, its on him. like the other guys said, u take em there to get them professionally mounted and ballanced, and returned in the some conditio u dropped them off in. also, if the guys a moron, he should hit himself with the prybar to get some sense knocked into him, and realize if u cant do somethin that great, stop, go back to the begining, and do it a little slower paying attention to every d@mn detail of what your doing. its not that hard.

whitethunder46 02-02-2006 08:13 AM

Definately dont feel bad especially if the manager called the guy a dumbf**k also!

RedFirevert04GT 02-02-2006 10:46 AM

Man you were 100% in the right on this one. The guy messed up your stuff, he should pay for it. It's not your concern if he gets fired over it. He should have been more careful.
