Call the places that do tint work and ask them.

svtnos 02-02-2005 09:03 AM

any place u call will tint your windows.. i mean it's profit why would they turn u down...most places ain't gonna tell u it's illegal.. but i'm sure they'll tell u if u ask... i mean they might at most tell u to be careful with real dark tint such as limo and darker..but i doubt they would discourage u from getting it...in MI the only tint your allowed to have on your driver/pass. side windows is the first 4 or 5 inches from the top... other than that no tint no matter what the %... now on your back windows.. well u could paint em black and they won't do anything...

Phantom1313 02-02-2005 04:35 PM

hmm k....

ok, i knew about the bakc windows, i just need 2 know bout the front, sinc ei dont want to have different ammounts of tint...im going to give the place a call once i get the number...they should be able to help, in the mean time, if anyone has the rules for cars in cali regarding front driver/passenger side window tint let me know...

Stevoneo 02-02-2005 08:21 PM

just call a tint shop and they will tell what is legal. As in VA it is 35 in the back 35 back pass and driver and 50 on driver and pass. nothing on the front winshield. however i have 20 on the back and smaller windows on the back, and 35 on driver and passenger and front winsheild

Phantom1313 02-02-2005 08:58 PM

really? u got tint on the windshield? that's soo sick, unfortunately to do that where i live that is like asking to get kicked in the genitalia (<---i cant spell)....not a wise idea....still trying to get info online, sicne id otn ahve number for the tint shop

venom 02-03-2005 03:18 AM

In FL you can tint the windshield but only a small strip on top for the sun. The fronts you can tint but not the very dark ones only the tint that you can see through from the outside. Most tint places wilk not install illegal tints if you ask them that you dont want to get fined and when they do they will warn you that is for offroad use only and are not respondsible.

jon3sgte 02-03-2005 03:27 PM

i live in vegas and had my windows blacked out all the way around and never had a problem with it. i would call the local dmv.

Phantom1313 02-03-2005 05:40 PM

hmm, personnaly i dont wanna get fined, but i do want my car to look good and have matchign tint, so i may go with a lighter tint all the way around, i will have to take a look and see...

nanaki 02-07-2005 07:09 AM

in virginia you can have up to 50% on the driver & passenger side front windows. you can have 35% on the back window and back passenger & driver side. they asked if i wanted 35% all around and said the odds of you getting pulled over for that is like 1 in 50. he's never heard anyone getting pulled for that. had i gone 15%, then i'd have a problem.

jbodell11 02-07-2005 02:35 PM

i have 35% all the way around and have been pulled over for different reasons and the cops have said nothing about it. one time was at night and one was in the day.

Tint Laws

In Illinois, its illegal to tint the driver's/passenger's windows at all, you can tint the back windows with any percentage tint. I recently got stopped by a local municipalitie's Barney Fife, he ticketed me for the forward tint. In Illinois, it's a $75 ticket that doesn't go on your driving record. I just paid it and forgot about it.

In California you can't have anything on the front windows. I got pulled over a few years ago just becuase I had tint on the front and also becuase the cop was an ASSHOLE! I had to take it off and get my ticket signed off. Most of the time the cops won't do anything but they can if they are bored. Just FYI.

nanaki 02-11-2005 06:17 AM

you don't get a ticket ticket. it won't go against your record or anything. it'll just be a fine you pay and you say you took it off. they don't even check it to verify you did it. same with exhaust. my friend got pulled over in his stealth for loud exhaust and dark tint. they were both about $150 fines. he just sent the money and that was it. no points on license or anything. the cop that pulled him over was jokin with him for a minute "i would be giving you a speeding ticket but i didn't have my radar out. you were flying down that exit ramp and it took me awhile to catch you." gotta love AWD.

You're allowed to have 70% on the front side windows. 70% is practically nothing though. I got nailed for 50% which you could see through easily. Most cops who pull over for tint have a hard on for that issue for whatever reason.

Heres a link with all the tint laws in the 50 states.... look below...

I have 15% on the front 2 and rear, and 5% on the visor and back 2 windows and I don't get messed with about it in NC. And thats having to put up with the MP's on base. Could be b/c I have OK tags though.....

The1Neo 02-22-2005 04:47 PM

ok i know were i live ( IL) tinted windows are illegal, but ifyou have them and have the front and passenger window down far enough so that a copcan see your head, then the cop cant pull you over

Antnydude47 02-24-2005 03:10 PM

yea....i got medium tint on my mustang and i dont think it will be a problem....my dad also just tinted his front windows on his 05' F350 a medium tint and the guy sed it was illegal but my dad cud give 2 ****s

L1quidCourage 02-24-2005 03:14 PM

Im not sure anything here is illigal in Nevada.

I have a nice dark tint. The tint guy made me pay him under the table to do it. But I dont even think it is illegal and have had no problems with the authorities.

Of course, now that i said that I am going to get pulled over on my way home from work today.

GTmustang04 02-24-2005 05:52 PM

tint

i live in md and i have 5% on my front 2, back to and back window and 40% on the windshield with a 5% sunstrip and i just got pulled over the other week and had to rip it all off. i only had it on for about 5 mon. it really blows cuz my car was dark as hell

WikidStang 02-24-2005 11:48 PM

im getting 10 or 15 all the way around mine...ask the state police about the tint...most cops hate stuff like that ...and usualy if they hate it they will say its illegal. and...since im getting 10 or 15 on my side windows i can just roll down my windows :D

v6what 05-09-2005 10:44 AM

was talking to a buddy of mine, he said he had his doctor give him a note or somthing and it's all good for him now, hes got tints like all around except the windshield but he gets pulled over all the time but since he has a bad eye he gets away with it

Shambles 05-10-2005 10:29 AM

Ive got 15% on the back of my Lexus, a 5% up on the front windshield, and 5% at the driver and passenger windows, although im getting that changes so that its 15% all the way around.

PA really doesnt have a set law on the books regarding tint, at least not that ive read. I believe they go by, if thay can see through the window, your ok.

Just dont get pulled over. Secondarys suck :P

The problem with PA's Laws: http://www.berksweb.com/users/dmv/tint/

Simply roll your windows down, or put the top down. Has worked three times all ready ,all ending with no tickets.

I was stationed at Cherry Point from 99-02, 15% tint all around (except windshield) and I never got pulled either. Most of the MPs, at least a few years ago, were pretty cool about it as long as you weren't doing something dumb like speeding on base. I'll tell you what, a black mustang with black leather in the NC summers NEEDS that tint.

I always took the back gate over by Slocum housing...the guys back there didn't care about anything, lol.

[hijack] I was in MWCS-28, what unit are you in? [/hijack]

Blue03gt 05-11-2005 01:12 PM

if u have anything darker than 35% on your sides here in CA... its only a matter of time before you get pulled over

cops are real dicks about it too... they give you attitude and try and grab you on any little thing like front license plate or "loud exhaust"... i recently had to take the flowmaster welded in mufflers off of my 98GT cuz they were "too loud"... and that is ALL the car has... just muffs
