A true dilemma...

Imagine you are married(for those of you who actually are, this shouldn't be too hard :) ) Imagine that he/she has been the love of your life for say...5-10 years(enough to consider you not newlyweds, but you also haven't been married too long to experience all of life's troubles) and he/she helps you out in so many things and you haven't clicked with anyone like you have with them before.

Now imagine you and your wife have had trouble with fertility. After years of trying, you finally conceive. Now imagine you wait the 9 months and upon birth, it is discovered that she has had an ectoppic pregnancy(for those who don't know, either the woman or baby's life is at risk during an ectopic preg.). And in the emergency room, your wife has passed out and may not wake up for a few hours. and the doctor says that a decision must be made within an hour or else both the wife AND the child will die...

Either the wife or the child will survive...but not both....with that in mind...

You can't ask your wife for her opinion, so whose life do you choose? Choose your wife and risk the possibility of never having a child again, and killing your nearly-born child in the process....or would you choose your child, and lose the love of your life?

Who's life is more important? One who has experienced most of what life has to offer and is your life companion...or someone who is your blood and has yet to breath oxygen but is ever-so-close and will only do so upon your decision.

Do you choose the baby and just plan to remarry in the future...or leave the baby to die and try again later. Oh, and also pretend that you are unable to adopt, whether it be financial reasons and whatnot...so this may very well be your only chance to have a child of your own.

For the girls on this site...voice your opinion also.

Something like that could never be decided untill the time is awaiting. That decicion is going to haunt you for the rest of your life, despise the choice you pick. Its a very hard one to make and there is more to than something like that than a "decision."

Yep would have to actually be in that situation to know. But that's a tough one.

id have to agree w/ matt...but i lean towards saving the wife...cause its the love of ur life....you have yet to know the baby....you are attached to it but yet again...ur really not....i dont know wat i would do w/o the love of my life (my girlfriend)....

Grimmz 12-08-2005 06:58 PM

leave it to the law...thats why we have a law...whether you agree with it or not, you can't kill the wife...she's living, the child isn't considered as viable as the wife...

madmatt 12-08-2005 07:07 PM

Id have to say the wife, I cant imagine being married to the love of my life, and then killing her for the child, I dont know. To me it would be worth having to try again, and possibly not having another.

Icefreezen 12-08-2005 07:19 PM

Wow lose the love of your life or your newly creation. Part of me wants to say let God handle this and hope everything works out for the best but the other side of me wants to say I would want to have my wife more. More children can be made but this is someone that cant be replaceed i'm' not saying that the child is going to be replaced but you can have more than one child you cant have the SAME wife twice is what i'm trying to say. This is a grim situation no matter how you cut it..........

I would have to say the wife also. I wouldent want my child growing up without a mother. I think a wifes death would be harder to deal with, you have this baby, raising it by yourself and always thinking about her..I couldent deal with that. Any decision is obviously very hard but i think you can get over an infants death, especially is you are able to have another one..Although you can never forget about a thing like that

dannyb785 12-08-2005 07:24 PM

yeah I don't mean to make everything grim but I was just thinkin about it and wasn't sure if there'd be an overwhelming answer. I'm sure some people would die to think that a baby was let to die over someone who had already experienced life. But personally, I'd keep my wife. I'd rather have ONLY her, and no kids, than raise a child by myself and have to re-fall in love again with someone else.

wow that's a deep question man! It's funny cause my girlfriend and I were talking about that same sort of situation the other day....I don't remember why, but I said I'd save my wife.

foncarelli 12-08-2005 08:37 PM

I would save my wife.

Dont chose...

I bet thats hard to go through... my advice personally is just pray...
neither life is more important... I think the only time ya should choose is if they both will pass if no decision is made...

Ya'll make the right choice if the choice comes...
