DVR's kick butt!!!!!! Highly reccommended.

Hey buddys! :)

Im all stoked out. I FINALLY figured out the best way to get my new DVR set up, I got a Panasonic DMR-EH50, It is a DVD burner with a 100GB built in HD intended to either replace yer Home DVD player or just to add in for recoding shows.

I work a strange schedule, either noon-8, 1-9, or 2-30-10:30, and i pull weekend duty every 3 weeks. So, obviously i miss a lot of the better TV shows.

So i bought this recorder and man this thing kicks ass.

Once you get ti all set up(which can be tricky depending on the capabilitys of your current HT rig), just go into the guide, find the show you want to record, and push REC. BAM. Done.
You can set it to record that show once, that one show the same time each week on that channel, or record that show on any channel anytime it comes on.

Already i got it set to record HOUSE, new ep's of Southpark, Family Guy, American Dad, and the Simpsons, plus some extra crap like Squidbullys, ATHF, sealab 2021, and all that.

When it records, it will record them to the harddrive by default (dvd if specified).
100mb HD can do 177hours of crappy quality, 45 hours or regular quality (normal tv broadcastnig) or 22 hours of super quality which is beyond standard TV broadcasting so i dont bother with it for regular shows.

Once you have enough episodes you can burn em all to a DVD and erase them from the drive. You can also edit out the commercials and create chapters and all that hooplah.

I dont know how many of you are into this stuff, but i tottally recommend this thing. Why pay for a season of Suprano's if you can just order it free on demand and burn em onto a dvd?????

hehehe... Merry Xmas Slappy. :)

Yeah... it all goes 1 piece at a time. My last rig cost me roughly about 10k total. Then a bad choice in roomate selection along with an eviction i had to scrap the whole thing out for 25 cents on the dollar. 10,000 worth of stereo gear sold for 2500. <ugh>
Had to start all over again, took me 2 years to get to where i am now, roughly have about 9k in the system now.
It just goes one piece at a time.
