0-60 in 3.6, 11.7 @125 mph quarter mile, 198 top speed. Now if car and driver can get times like that, imagine what a real driver cut easily pull! :eek:

Funny how you said a real driver get in a car like that. They have professional drivers and ex racers who do their testing. They are also unbiased for the most part. What they say that car does, it does. Im sure the z06 would hit 200 mph at sea level, but realisticly, not everyone lives at that.

Well, i remember when the 04 z06 came out and all magazines reported a 1/4 mile time of 12.4-12.5 and after a few months of it coming out, i was reading all these vette forums and how the drivers were getting 12.0'-12.2s and i read about a bonestock 03 zo6 getting an 11.8! So only time will tell! :)

Ive also heard they do their tests with a full tank o' gas. That could help out a little in the quartermile area, but dunno bout the 200 mark. That is certainly a bad mamba jamba.

Its not going to be the perfect scenario everytime they test the car. Somedays you run a 14.9, somedays youll get the 13.9.

Manufacturing variables
 

Differences between pre-production models (like those tested by C&D) and actual production models can easily translate into gains or (as in the case of the Mazda rotaries) losses in power. Once production settles down and the first run of cars starts, differences between individual cars and motors can make some cars 12 second cars, and others 12.2 second cars.

Manufacturers often tweak the designs as the model year progresses, making changes that can easily affect performance, both to the good and the bad. i've heard that the early 03 Cobras were somewhat slower than the late 03's.

Finally, track conditions, barometric pressure, tail wind, and altitude play a roll.

Have you seen the write-up on the uber-Z06 they plan to introduce mid-year?

All the Z06 has, plus a blower...

Maybe 650hp!

Also, more agressive suspension, brakes and new tranny.

Also $100,000+.

And who cares if it only goes 198 and not 200 mph.I had my old Charger up too 160 and would'nt do it again,getting old :)
