Theoretical top speed....
 

When I shift into 5th afterthe end of 4th, im going 130... and it goes to aruond 3k to 3.5k(I cant remember exactly), which is 2k or more to go before the red line...

now of course, bc of gearing and my lack of enough power, thats pretty much the top speed for my car. BUT, if i was to throw, say, 1000hp(just for arguments sake), how fast COULD the stang go, since it'd have enough power to make it all the way thru 5th? Of course itd kill the tranny, but forget about that just for THEORETICAL top speed. with that same stock gearing, could it hit 180 or 190? at 5th gear red line?

With no wind resistance, you should be able to go 180 or 190 the way the car is right now. Of course thats THEORETICALLY.

That would be significant, considering there are 500 thousand dollar cars that top out at just over 200 mph.

you can use a base line like they use in video games I suppose. In gran tourismo 3 my cobra R will run 185 mph before it runs out of motor with all the gear i can give it. That is on test track. which is a big 4 or 5 mile oval. I think they put some research into this. I actually wouldn't want to go over 150 in a small coupe. I had my viper way above 200 mph on GT3 with a high gear. more cylinders will reach higher speeds on the long stretch of road. GT 4 I cant wait. I can drink and drive over the speed limit and crash and walk away. LOL :rolleyes:

In all reality I have yet to find a road where I am at ease with gaggin the hell out of my GT. I haven't been to the track yet. I had mine at 105 MPHish in 3rd gear once and still had pedal left. I didn't even hit 4th gear yet. I just slowed down. I consider 5th gear my gas saver gear for over 45 mph cruisin

It is really a simple thing to calculate, just use proportions.

For example, if your car is at 75 mph in 5th is a 2200 rpms. Just divide 2200 by 75. That gives you 29.33. Then take 6200 which is redline and divide it by 29.33, and that gives you 211 mph.

I have 4.10s and if I recall, I run at 2800 rpms in 5th at 75 mph. 2800 divided by 75 equals 37.33. So at 6200 rpms, I could only go 166 mph.

This of course is purely theoretical and would mean no wind resistance and assuming the engine would not blow. This is the gear limitation of the car. I supose you could go this fast on a dyno for example.

with the 3650 at 6,200rpms with stock gears you cna go (with hp and wind not in the equation) 223.4mph. thats as fast as the motor and rpms and gearing will allow.
