is any one hear going to buy the 2012 boss?

Hey guys long time no post.lol

Ive been looking in to buying the 2012 boss and some of the news ive been hearing from the dealers are not good.

I saw online the base model boss is going to be around 40k and the laguna seca is going to be around 47k.

At the dealer i was told Ford will make some ware from 5-10k boss mustangs and to expected to pay around 60k for the base model.

My dealer said they expected to get two a base model and a laguna, has any one else heard any thing?

Be prepared for it.

Dealers mark up the shit out of the "specialty" mustangs. They'll never sell at 60k, but I wouldn't be surprised to see them at that price.

00blkstanggt 11-23-2010 12:40 PM

I don't see why Ford would sell these for under 40K. It's a special edition so they're going to rape you as much as possible. Aren't you pretty young anyways? Not sure how you would afford one, no offense. I know r3d is looking to get one.

probiker427 11-23-2010 12:43 PM

yeah i no r3d wants one thats why hes parting out but there expensive damn

NewMustangMan 11-23-2010 01:11 PM

i really want one but no way i can afford it.

the dealer i was at told me there going to mark the car up 1.5-2k, if people show a lot of interest in the cars they get it will go to an silent auction and the one with the highest bid gets the car.

40k is not that much money for what you get with the boss, 50k is meh and 60k is to much imo.

Anyone remember the ridiculous mark ups on the Ford GT? MSRP was somewhere around 140k while a local dealer, that somehow ended up with one, had it listed for OVER 200k. I don't know what it finally sold for but, I cant imagine it was that much since the sales manager was bragging to customers about abusing it to over 60 mph in first gear. How bad do you think they'll beat the hell out of a Boss if they get their hands on it?

Switch 11-23-2010 02:23 PM

They actually reduce the sound-proofing in the boss, lol.

r3dn3ck 11-23-2010 03:01 PM

I'm going for a laguna seca model. I have a line on a dealer that'll sell me one at MSRP. I've been a good customer.

Just because he's young doesn't mean he isn't broke. I owned my own condo, two cars, and a business by age 20.

How is this at all possible without coming from a rich family.I'm turning nineteen this eel and I'd really love to know.

I never once relied on my family. Who are not rich, by any means. I opted not to go to college, due to the fact that at best, my parents could afford a community college. I have always been an entrepreneur of some sorts, since a very young age. I made my own way, learned my profession OTJ or by studying on my own time. Then I used that profession to venture off into many other things. I now have a full time job, a side business, and i'm working on starting up a new business in home automation.

Just have to have the will, and the drive to succeed. Anythings possible.

01FR500 11-23-2010 06:12 PM

I'm not suprised one bit. I was telling a fellow corner worker at an autocross that I expect the basic Boss model to go for around 42K and the LS edition to go for close to 50K. I'd rather but a Shelby for that money, really. But more than that, I'd rather have a base GT and mod it the way I want it, if it was for DD and track duty. The Boss is the new Cobra R, and those wern't cheap either.

I'm well aware what you have accomplished. You've stated several times before. But did you have a 40-50k car at that time? I was just assuming since his profile says occupation: sucks. haha

r3dn3ck 11-24-2010 06:52 AM

Figure around $40,000 for the base 302 and upwards of $48,000 for the Laguna Seca. Here's pricing that was current a few days ago.

Base Boss - $40145.00
Seats/Diff - $1995.00
Car Cover/Mats - $475.00
Laguna Seca add $6995.00
Dest & Del. $850.00

So a std. Boss with the Seat/Diff option and delivery charge would be $42,990.00
Laguna Seca Boss - $47,990.00

By the time it's all written up with sales tax and all that happy horseshit you're talking about a 50K dollar car. It's something you need to be in a particular income bracket for or have about half the cost saved up otherwise you're looking at a 800-1000 dollar a month car payment plus high insurance and fuel and tire costs. This is just like the 70's when you could pick up a base GT with some nice options for 3500 bucks but if you wanted the Boss you were looking at 7 grand. At the time that was a ton of money. You could get a really nice caddy for that kind of scratch. Now a nice caddy is 50 grand.

Lazerred6 11-24-2010 08:33 AM

If money were no object I would want one but it is so I'm going to bide my time save up some money and buy a used 2011 v6 when I get the chance. Then I'm going to see just how light I can get it and how far I can push the stock platform suspensionwise

It wasn't all that long ago that 300 hp and a 6 speed was somthing special now you can get it for a bargin.

r3dn3ck 11-24-2010 08:47 AM

Now that's responsible thinking.

Truth be told, 300hp is where I start calling it a car not for the masses. 300 is just enough to catch you off guard. Low tq V6 or no, 300hp is a bunch and deserves some respect. I've seen a well set up v6 hand asses to GT and cobra drivers at the auto-x and road course tracks. The balance is better with the 6 and the braking is much better without all the extra front weight. You can really get nutty with a 94-04 v6 if you do the suspension, brakes, diff mods that it needs.

mustangrn 11-24-2010 08:49 AM

I definitely want one but until we get back stateside my options are very limited.

Lol. I didn't see his occupation.

I could have very well afforded a 40-50k car if I didn't have a mortgage. Haha.

Haha, tell me about it. If I had no mortgage, then I would have a nice $1500 just laying around each month.

zigzagg321 11-24-2010 03:41 PM

Ever since I got the yamaha...I lost all interest in fast cars... I actually like my old Yoda truck better than the Mustang I had... The bike makes that car feel like a kia forte. So put me on the "not getting a Boss" list.

the new v6 is pretty impressive, but i would rather have my evo.lol

00blkstanggt 11-25-2010 11:30 AM

I remember seeing a 05 GT500 at the dealership with a 45k markup on it. Now tell me, who in their right mind would spend 90k on a mustang?

MuscleMan21 12-16-2010 06:52 AM

I also was very successful at a young age. I think most of it was due to a high level of motivation and a little bit of luck. I had two cars, a boat and a house at age 25. I made being successful my main focus and I hooked up with the right people. Things just tend to fall into place if you stay on the grindstone. I would love to get a Boss but I'm not really sure if I can justify the price.

r3dn3ck 12-16-2010 07:07 AM

dude... old threads, back from dead. Warning, we HATE THAT SHIT. Please work on current threads.

I encourage you to post but try to keep the topics that are updated active ones... dead threads or dying threads are just that.

rebelyell 12-16-2010 11:57 PM

seems to be alot of that lately.. But this was only a few weeks old.. But from a new member still, post on current stuff, LOL. I resist the urge to bump a dead thread. Most of them started by me... :o

01FR500 12-17-2010 09:06 AM

If it was more related to the original post, then no problem from me. It's borderline. Hell, on Corner-Carvers, you better pull up an old thread before making a new one.
