So I might be back in a stang.

Hey guys! I'm going to be test driving a few mustang's tomorrow and wanted to ask what I should be looking out for on an 05-07 Mustang GT 5spd MT, aside from looking for the usual when buying a used car. Is there anything in specific that I should be aware of when looking at this model?

Is Ford's warranty or any other extended warranty necessary?

thanks ya'll :)

If i remember correctly some of them had a slight rust problem on the hood. i think someone on here had to take theirs in to the shop for it. other than that im not sure. my 07 had a Rear brake Cal. fail but i dont think it is a known problem for them.

I know where there is a 2009 black bullit in your area.... 14k miles for ~26k Im sure you could get them down some.

and a 2008 Shelby GT blue with white stripes 14k miles for ~29k

and another bullit and another GT CS

if I had the option to buy a 05-09 GT or a Low mileages used COBRA..I would get the Cobra....Get a 03- 04 cobra.

i won't buy a cobra/bullit because I know me and I won't ever want to put miles on it. I want a car that I can commute in and still have fun.

is $15599 too much for a 2005 mustang gt with 68k miles? Its at a carmax

I think a good rule of thumb is to always go by the blue book value. Any mods do not add value to the blue book value. People know that. Negotiate as much as possible with the seller. No sense in paying more than car is actually worth. Even if it's been modded... That usually means it's likely to have been driven hard, maybe once or twice, or maybe all the time, You won't know. even with a stock mustang, you can't really see how it was driven. Drive it, listen for knocks or noises, and look for smoke or anything unusal. Little ole lady drove it to church don't mean she wasn't dogging the shit out of it..

Haha, funny visual.

Just for the record, my 2004 Mach 1 w/42,800 is in the process of being sold for $14,500. So yes, I would say that the GT that you are looking for is a little over-priced. I have noticed that a lot of dealerships have been marking up the prices on their 05+ stock because of the change in body style from the new edge to last-gen S197s even though the 99-04s were better cars (IMO).
