15 Horsepower from Fuel Filter Change??
Last summer I had my car dyno'd just to make sure the tune was still "good" and stuff. I made 255 HP at the wheels and it was 75 degrees, a rather nice day If i can remember.
Yesterday I had the car dynoed once again make sure my Air/fuel ratio was good and all this summer before I hit the dragstrip(yes I dyno the car alot as I know the tuner guy..lol) This time the car made 270 HP AT THE WHEELS on average without any performance mods since the last dyno...I only changed the FUEL FILTER to a new one about a week ago... I just found this wierd..was my old fuel filter robbing this much HP??? the car only has 70,000 miles after the fuel filter was swapped out..lol |
what year/model is your car?
|
Doesn't really seem all that possible, but I guess it could happen.
|
If your filter was extremely nasty and the car wasn't getting enough fuel...maybe..idk..
|
Was it the same type of dyno? Same shop? Same software? Etc?
|
I would think you would also have to consider atmospheric conditions as well. Hot humid day, or cool dry day, That would probably make a bigger difference than fuel flow from a dirty fuel filter. I also agree that 70 K miles is alot for any filter, gas, oil, or air filter. :smokin:

If the a/f ratio was good with the old one, then no it didn't do shit.
|
I'd have to agree with Dustin. Unless the car wasn't getting enough fuel last time, then a cloged filter wasn't the cause.

My car is a 02 mustang GT..basic bolt ons...I used the same dyno. I cant imagine my original fuel filter being so clogged to rob 15 HP...weather conditions were pretty much the same to.. WiErD imma have it dynoed again soon just to seee if my HP #'s are still up there..

Also another thing might have been the quality of the gas you used from the last run to this one. Lot's of reasonable probabilties other than pointing at the fuel filter.. |
