Whats considered high mileage?

For a 99-04?

GT and V6.

I found a nice bullitt for 5500 but it has 139k miles. Looks clean but most 4.6's don't seem to last long around here. They either shoot plugs out or lock up.

I'd just like to see what everyone sees as high. I know slithers car has right at 200k i think and his is still goin so thats a good sign.

drag_racer33 04-18-2010 10:14 PM

i just turned 159K a few days ago... i have a check engine light but it is something that apparently i can ignore according to a few places i asked about it, including a guy i know at a ford dealership. I havent had to do anything outside of what should be normally done to a car (except trying to get it to look nice from the last people who probably never waxed it and used acid to clean the rims)...
I do have to go through the front end this summer, but that would fall under normal for my miles i think

r3dn3ck 04-19-2010 07:05 AM

That's starting to get there. 100K you start seeing the longer wearing items start needing replacement (bushings, suspension, assorted bearings, etc...). If the car has not been modded then it's probably been driven nicely.

Modulars don't die, they're killed. Murdered in cold blood by people not maintaining them. They're otherwise a very long lasting motor. When you hit 200K I'll tell you to freshen the motor (bearings, rings, bore, pistons).

r3dn3ck 04-19-2010 07:06 AM

in any case, a bullit (a real one) for 5500 in excellent condition is a straight bargain. It's already modded for the most part from the factory, suspension, brakes, intake and interior.

id get it

00blkstanggt 04-19-2010 09:52 AM

My car is still driving strong with 135,700 miles on it. Doesn't burn oil or anything. Hell I slapped the supercharger on it with 130,000 miles on it. Just depends on how the car was driven and maintained.

rebelyell 04-19-2010 09:37 PM

Daam. My odomter reads 28,500 right now.. No mods, and regular service as recommended from the dealer.. I do stomp the cobwebs out of her about twice a week, but nothing extreme. I'm gonna try to keep her for for 10 more years.. :)

Damn dude, do u ever drive that thing? The old lady is always on me that I spend all kinds of money on mine and hardly drive it. I've put around 9k on it in a little over a year that I've owned it. I'm close to 112k and never owned a car with less than 100k in my life.

stanley423 04-20-2010 10:42 AM

I have a 2002 V6 and I am driving it daily with 185+K miles on it and I have only had to replace the plugs for the time that I have owned it and that was since 126K so it does pretty good.

LOL, I drive her everyday, thing is I work sometimes everyday, and it's only 4 miles to work. Anytime we take a vacation, or a road trip we take my wifes Concorde, Very comfortable, with 3 times more room, and when we go to the beach or the mountains, I'm a notorious nap taker.. Wake me up if you see something cool, or when we get there... LOL.. :p

2002 Mustang 97500 miles

I am looking at a 2002 mustang that has 97,500 miles for $4100. Does anybody think this is a good deal? I saw on the thread that the 2002 seems to have pretty good staying power. I plan on this being my only car for the next 5-7 years or so if not longer. It will be driven much more around town than on the highway. So, knowing all of this, would this still be a good deal to jump on?

krenogin 03-30-2012 02:52 PM

I think you'd be fine. A friend just bought a 99 awhile back, it had around the same mileage and he paid more. Because it was a 99 it kept shooting spark plugs out, but all in all its been a great car. My cars at 125k right now.

drag_racer33 03-31-2012 12:23 PM

My 6 was at 107k when I got it, now over 170k and still running wonderfully

Maybe tell your friend how to properly replace spark plugs.

Shadow_Stang 04-08-2012 11:00 AM

Mach: 16k

bigkeeko 04-08-2012 10:20 PM

I`m sitting at 22k miles. I`ll be whacking it up for sale in the summer. I fancy a lightning or SRT 10.

krazypony 04-12-2012 01:01 PM

Heck i'm at 150k and growing right now, oil changes like normal and trying to keep it filled with gas and driving 100miles per day here!

I agree.....if you are nice to them & drive them fairly easy , they will go 200,000 miles plus.....I have a 1989 GMC Sierra 5.7 LITER / 350 with 215,000 & it runs better than ever.....but I take care of it.....great truck.....mustang 302 / 5.0 & 4.6 liters are both good motors

Rick Gonzalez 11-22-2016 08:46 PM

No reason to buy a high mileage car unless your trying to spend as little as possible.....if you are willing to be patient & shop around you can find a low mileage mustang somewhere in the country for around $15,000....unless its a Cobra or Shelby......I found my 2003 Mach 1 in New Jersey / one owner & 13,500 miles for $15,000.00

Jason Krawczyk 10-16-2017 11:27 AM

I'm thinking of buying a 2000 Mustang GT. There is either a Green GT with 101,850 miles for $2,998 only has minor cosmetic problems, or a White GT with 115,127 miles for $4960 that seems in a better condition in my opinion. Which should I purchase?

Great price for Bullitt

I think that's a great price for Bullitt because the new 2019 Bullits will cost $47,495. The price was just revealed.
