Please keep my brother in you thoughts/prayers

My older brother (24) went to see a doctor yesterday to look at an inflamed lymph node and the doctor told him that they needed to get it checked out asap.

They did a preliminary test and it was fine but the're going to do a biopsy to test for Hodgkin's Lymphoma.

I will keep you guys updated

Thanks in advance

-Ben

Keep a positive outlook dude. maybe it's just a swollen lymph node from a virus or something. What lymph node area is the problem anyway? there are several..

Lazerred6 03-12-2010 05:06 AM

The one that is the trouble is a very large one in his neck that has been there for about a month now

Lazerred6 03-12-2010 03:20 PM

Well my brother's appointment was today and his neck aspiration came into my office a few hours later. (I'm a hospital lab technician) Because of the position that I hold I have certain abilities when it comes to "the line" needless to say his specimen went in through the VIP entrance reserved for royalty..... and Jesus.

I had our cytologist look at it and all she saw was that it looked like a reactive lymph node (best case scenario).

Thanks for your thoughts and prayers guys it means alot to me

Good news bro. I get swollen nymph glands periodically and they will scare the hell out of ya. They usually go away after a day or 2 though. But one that last for awhile needs to be looked at..

Anyway not to go into much detail but I've been through 2 "RSLND" surgeries and had a total of 72 lymph nodes removed. 9 days with an NG tube down my throat, through my nose was no fcking fun at all.. I still question if it was neccessary to go through all that just to confirm a diagnosis.. I still have problems with scar tissue and the overall impact it had on me..

Yeah, that was in 1994, I was in my mid 30's and in pretty good shape. I'm sure the test's they can do today wouldn't be so invasive. And the fact that Chemo treatments are better geared at killing cancer cells instead of just killing all cells.

Altogether I had 4 major surgeries and 6 months of chemo in 94 and 95. But it saved my life so I can only complain a little bit.. ;)
