Firewire Card Problems - Nerds Invited

So with this new camcorder I'm required to have a 1394 (firewire) port. I ended up buying a Rosewill 1394a card from Newegg.com that says it supports Vista 64bit. Here is the link to said card-

http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...-002-_-Product

Once installed it says that it should recognize the card automatically and download the required drivers. Here's where the problem starts, it doesn't do any of that. I checked my device manager and it is nowhere to be seen. I'm running Vista Home 64bit, on the box of the card it says it supports my OS so I went on the Rosewill website to see if maybe I could find the driver there and I happen to notice that on the Rosewill site it says that my particular card does not support Vista. Back to Newegg I go to double check and Newegg says that the card suppports Vista. So now Rosewill's website says it's not supported but the actual box the card came in and Newegg both say it is supported.

I did some research and read some people have problems and some don't, not necessarily with this particular 1394 card but with all. I also stumbled upon a post someone made that says Vista does not support 1394 cards but it does support 1394a cards. Well low and behold, the card I purchased is a 1394a card. Anybody have any ideas, I know this is kind of a far reach since I know alot of people don't mess with firewire but it's worth a shot. I would really like to head this solved this weekend because I'm going to huge car show in a few hours and I'm taking my new camcorder and I would really like to upload my video the computer and do some editing on it so I have it finished up Sunday.

So if any of you guys know anything, post up...

All hope is lost. Abandon Windows. Don't buy cheapo cards. Call the card vendor. Return the card to the vendor and get a good one. In descending order of pain.

re-seat the card in its slot (if you havent already) to make sure its firmly in there. if it is and it still doesnt work, take it back.

Yeah, reseat the card.. In device manager it may show up as a yellow exclamation point! as an unknown device... check the manufacturers website and look for drivers and attempt a manual install...

I've personally never worked with iEEE things. Because most have been on board on my motherboard.. But who knows.. you can start at cheap things..

BTW you bought it from NEWEGG, they are good with customer support about returning the item! So if worst comes to worst send it back in. And opt for refund to get another card.
