V10 TT RS6 to come to the US? With 700hp?
http://www.autoblog.com/2010/02/17/l...-audis-for-na/
Fuck yes. I will be selling my left nut to buy one of these guys. |
wow....
a 100,000 dollar car Ill stick with my v6 :p |
Yea, but they are very nice. Plus 100k is the price of a ZR1......which an RS6 with 700hp would kill a ZR1, track or strip. I'm just saying it'd be the first car I'd buy with 100k.
|
It won't kill a zr1 considering the zr1 will be substantially lighter than the RS6. But don't get me wrong, I would take the RS6 in a heartbeat if I could.

The stock RS6 almost pulls off the same 1/4 mile as the ZR1 on the stock tires. So I'm pretty sure a 200hp bump will kill it for sure. Not trying to be dickish. I realized that first part was kind of pushy, but I still think it'd beat a ZR1. I've seen street races of ZR1s losing to AMG Mercedes with only like 600hp. |
and the vette hands audis their asses on the corners. They'd probably be neck and neck on the strip with the massive weight of modern audis. The vette is still startlingly light and makes absurd power. The only thing the audi has there is AWD which could make for some sick fast launches.
Additionally (excerpted from Wikipedia): For the powertrain detail of this latest RS6, the internal combustion engine (parts code: 07L, identification code: BUH) is what Audi claims the first all-aluminium alloy 5.0 litre (4,991 cc (304.6 cu in)) 90° V10 twin-turbocharged ("biturbo"), Fuel Stratified Injection (FSI), with a dry sump lubrication system. It has four valves per cylinder, with twin chain-driven double overhead camshafts (2xDOHC), and variable valve timing[11] for both inlet and exhaust camshafts. Charged intake air is cooled with two side-mounted intercoolers (SMIC)s. This V10 engine produces a DIN rated maximum motive power output of 426 kilowatts (579 PS; 571 bhp) at 6,250 to 6,700 rpm, and generates 650 newton metres (479 ft·lbf) of torque from 1,500 to 6,250 rpm. Engine management is by way of two Bosch DI-Motronic[12] ME 9.1.2 engine control units, which act as "master" and "slave" concepts; two ECUs are required due to the high revs the engine can achieve. It also uses mapped direct ignition system with ten individual direct-acting spark coils, an electronic drive by wire throttle (Bosch "E-Gas")[13], cylinder-selective knock control, and cylinder bank adaptive lambda control, utilising eight lambda sensors. So it's making 571/479 with all that crap. The vette is still a damned GM small block no matter how you slice it and compared to the audi makes a crapload more tq and hp and since it's roots blown it'll make all that power at most any RPM. (wikipedia) The ZR1 engine is a heavily modified version of the LS3, designated the LS9, producing 638 hp (476 kW) and 604 ft·lbf (819 N·m) of torque, it is the most powerful production Corvette to date. The LS9 has a sixth-generation Eaton TVS R2300 roots 4-lobe supercharger with an intercooler. Vette weighs 3333lbs, audi weighs 4100. |
^ Sounds like America wins again...

Audi has allowed the Canadian tuner Horchaus to mod and sell Audis in North America, pricing is not official yet but the sales are. He IS selling Audis that were "Euro-only" to the US. All you have to do is buy it in Canada and drive it or have it shipped to the US. Taa daa. No DOT required because it's not being bought on US soil, and it doesn't have to go through customs if you drive it across. Much like guys bringing cars over from the military after their service over seas. You just have to get it federalized when you go to get tags for it. It's still awesome to see cars like the TT Quatro (TT RS) and the S3 being able to be brought in without worrying about getting it overseas. Now if Ford would let the RS Focus get sold over here......hmmmm.... |

Lol. You're kidding me right? The ZR1 for what it is has a horrible power band and also power for how much it costs. Sure the RS6 weighs more, but Horchaus takes out all of the unnecessary parts to make it lighter than it normally is. Plus AWD means it'll kill it from a dig. The Horchaus RS6 Avant is suppose to pull of close to 620 tq from 1000 rpms all the way to its redline at 7k. Couple that with AWD and its a rocket.

Something that, for the most part, I can drive daily around here, and if somethings fucked up, drive up into my mechanics shop and they can fix it. Oh and it'd haul ass? Even better. And if you're ugly enough that you need a car to help you drop panties..then thats on you.. |
