1884 Honda 1500cc engine FTW!!!!!!

This engine rocks.

so the wife called me while i was at work yesterday. My boy fell and cracked his head, split the scalp, i told her to meet me at the hospital.

about 3 miles from the hospital the wife calls, she is lost, going the wrong way and about 10 miles away. figures. Anyways i look at my gauges and see my temp gauge is buried, engine is overheating like a motherfucker.

i get off the road and pull into a parking lot at a strip mall and shut off the engine to cool it down a bit. i pop the hood, the fucking hose from the radiator to engine block popped off at the engine block. the clamp was about 3 inches back on the hose, all my antifreeze was dumped back on the road. fucking great.

i call the wife and tell her where im at and to pick me up since im on the way to the hospital for her. IO run to the gas station, get some water, reconnect the hose and start filling the radiator.

i get back in, turn on the gauges and it is STILL pegged on the hot end. 5-8 minutes AFTER the engine was shut off it was STILL that hot.

Anyways i get it refilled and rather than running tons of cold water through the hot engine the wife gets me, we go to the hospital. Logan is fine, he needed 3 staples in his head. that kid is tough as hell i tell you what.

anyways after the hospital visit i get back to the car, cycle some water through the engine, refill the radiator, then drove the 15 miles back home.

with as much abuse as that engine has recieved from overheating a dozen times, twice with extreme overheating, running for months with no oil, and a carb that runs it rich cause i dont know how to adjust it, the engine STILL turns over and starts right up EVER SINGLE TIME.

I liked my mustang more than the honda, but i have more respect for that ltittle 1500cc engine than any ford V8 due to its sheer refusal to die.

oh yah, and logan is fine. he was running around all day like nothing happened.

FTW

That's crazy, I'm glad he's okay.
and that's one tough engine. I'd
want to keep it no matter what. ahaha

they are good engines. glad the your son is ok.

FWIW it takes way more than 5-8 minutes for an engine to cool down after its overheated...min of 30 min id say, usually more.

Honda makes a damn good engine for sure. The Civic I had took a beatn every time I drove it. Most cars I've had would blow up after 6-8k miles but I out over 65k miles on that bitch. It would still get like 32 mpg and run like a bad out of hell. Good to hear that ur boy is fine.

its overheated before, many, many times. Ive always had issues with the cooling system on this, and spend quiote a bit of time trying to keep the engine cool...

Shutting the car off for 5-10 seconds has always enough to drop the temp by about 10-15% according to the temp gauge... usually after a couple minutes it has dropped quite a bit.

small engine? maybe thats why it dissapates as rapidly as it does? i dont know.

this is the first time i have ever seen it sit OFF for 5-8 minutes and STILL have the temp gauge pegged when i turn the gauges on. so this thing was overheated in a major wway compared to any other time that ive had the needle pegged.

lol

You also have to take ambient temp. into account, I'm sure that has helped to cool the engine being where you are.

Glad Wolverine is doing good Chris. :)

i drove 100 miles on mine 1.6 liter.....holed #3 piston, ran out of oil, and destroyed the bearings and it got me to vegas, instead of being stuck out in the middle of the desert at 1:00am.

it finally blew #3 rod out the bottom, but still started and drove up the trailer....
