Drilling through carbon fiber?

Anyone ever done this before? Just wondering if there's anything special that needs to be done. I'm looking at something online that will need to have some small holes drilled in order to fit my application. It wouldn't be very thick.. Maybe 1/4" to 5"16. TIA.

You should be able to drill through carbon fiber just like fiberglass. Since my hood is carbon fiber and I need to put some hood pins on it, I have done a bit of thinking and asking about this also. I would put some masking tape on the surface you want to drill, and the underside if possible to be safe. I'd start with a little bit smaller bit that what you want to end up with and go slow. As long at the carbon fiber is cured well with the resin and all that then you won't have to worry about the weve pattern being messed up.

carbon fiber is known to crack or splinter when it's drilled. i don't have any advise, just be careful

Alright.. I'll just have to be careful. It's ok if the holes don't look 100% perfect, since I'm going to be putting rubber grommets in there anyways. But anything beyond a minor flaw and it will look like shit. Thanks guys.
