A year.

As of Aug 25, it's been a year since I started drinking nothing but water.

I made it with a few exceptions..sonic 1/2 price happy hour drinks over the summer on really hot days.

Some orange juice, milk

And a few fountains drinks.

It was a lot easier than I originally thought it would be, but I don't see myself giving it up, I'll still choose water of pretty much anything. This year maybe I'll try to add something to it, maybe cut out red meat...but that will be a bitch because I fucking love steak and burgers. Would be a healthy choice to pass on them, though. So I'll give it a shot.

That is pretty cool. I am to the point where I can cut out carbonated and caffeinated drinks, but i dont have the will power for just water. I love me some lemonade here and there.

Thats pretty good. You probably saved some money in the process aswell. I think everyone should drink more water. I know kids that drink nothing but Coke and Dr. Pepper. My boss needed two bags of solution before they could get any blood from her becuase she was so dehydrated. I think I'm pretty good about drinking water, a 12 pack of drinks will last atleast a month or two at my house. Once you start drinking plenty of water you don't even miss carbonated drinks and you feel so much better from being hydrated. However, I've found that when you not cronically dehydrated like most people, you really feel it when you need some water.

Congrats Kevin. I have been doing the same thing. I started buying bottled water around a year ago and just recently got a water filter. I tried to drink a Mt. Dew a few weeks ago and it made me sick. It sucked at first but now I don't mind it at all.

BikerSk8rKid 08-30-2009 08:41 PM

You're so lucky, I tried sticking to water and it didn't work. It doesn't give me any kind of energy or boost. Probably because I rarely sleep. I also grew up eating junk food, living off anything that had a lot of sugar in it. I litterly was not able to drink water for years, it kept making me sick, sounds weird, but I grew up for like 12 years of my life NEVER DRINKING WATER. But I can say I'm starting to get sick of like almost all the stuff I drink, a lot of places I used to eat. I'm getting to be REALLY REALLY picky and it sucks. FML

I can't even stick with working out. :( I want to lose 40 pounds too. haha But congrats on the success.

NeedACobra 08-30-2009 09:45 PM

Dude, from the pic you posted in the mug thread, you dont look like you need to lose..ANY weight.

PistonsFan102 08-31-2009 06:26 AM

I went 5 months once with drinking ONLY water. Now its just my drink of preference. Pop for instance doesn't settle with my stomach anymore, I'm just not used to it.

Switch 08-31-2009 06:31 AM

I usually drink water or juice but I still have about one soda per day.

spike_africa 08-31-2009 06:31 AM

Once you stay away from sodas and juices long enough you wont want them anymore. I only drink water, tea, milk,OJ, and a little bit of coffee here and there. I never want soad or juices or sports drink pretty much ever.

Though I do cheat and grab a gatorade G2 every once in a while to have something different. But its pretty much water for me too. Its an easy way to loose weight and it costs a lot less to just have water. Win/Win situation for me.

rkaz 08-31-2009 07:43 AM

I gave up pop bout two years ago. I don't drink as much water as all of you. I mostly drink tea, sobe, or vitamin water.

badtib04 08-31-2009 07:58 AM

since i've been working at sams (2months now) i've been drinking alot of water cuz in the bays it gets to be over 100 degrees and i was feeling pretty shitty the first few days but now i've been drinking about 10-15 bottles of water a day, and i feel better. :D

and congrats Pcolav thats quite the tasK!

PistonsFan102 08-31-2009 08:42 AM

Drinking water alone, and staying away from can easily help someone lose weight.

Looking at all the sugar in a can of pop is sickening.

Switch 08-31-2009 08:56 AM

There's something like 70 grams in a 20oz of mtn dew.

mustangvsix 08-31-2009 11:59 AM

Like 80% of the time I drink just water, but I do like milk, oj every so often. Sodas and sports drinks on a rare occasion. And coffee every blue moon, not big on spending money on drinks.

Badfish 08-31-2009 05:29 PM

Same here, when I went to college after playing football for years and being a linemen I was at 234 lbs, mostly a fat ass. Now 5 years later and I am 223lbs and not mostly fat.

I mean... beer tastes nasty. blah blah blah... "its an acquired taste" The term acquired taste is so illogical to me. what does it mean? It means, a person ate/drank something they didnt like, but for some f'ed up reason(social acceptance) they kept consuming it until they got used to it. Makes zero sense to me...if ya dont like the taste of something, why ever try it again?

and BTW...

no.

I dont drink beer, or alcohol hardly ever for that matter. Except for a vodka tonic, or a margarita once or twice a year.

I like to smoke my beer.

Lazerred6 09-01-2009 11:34 AM

I always liked beer

zigg likes almost nothing

NeedACobra 09-01-2009 12:01 PM

I aquired the taste because I like to get drunk without dealing with the effects of liquor.
However, I do like a bit of Yager every now and then.
