Pony Car comes to NASCAR!

http://www.nascar.com/2009/news/head...ate/index.html

It is expected that FORD will use the Mustang likeness in the Nationwide series in 2011 when the new Nationwide "Car of Tomorrow" is introduced!

Pretty f'in cool.

Dave.... Shouldn't have to tell you this, but that is just a rendering.. It's not a real car.

oh well god dammit Evan...you are always telling me things that you, yourself, have deemed to be an item that you, yourself, shouldnt have to tell me.

solution?

stop telling me. :D

the RENDERING is ugly, and so will be the ACTUAL car they make from the UGLY RENDERING. :smokin:

oh, and fix the thread title...it sounds stupid.... Pony Cars Comes.... is the "s" in cars necessary? I shouldnt have to tell you this, Evan.

Yeah, I'm hesitant about the Mustang version of the COT. But the Challenger one looks pretty sick IMO

It would be cool as shit if they would make them look realistic, but in all reality I highly doubt that they will actually be shaped like the real cars.. Everything is all about being balanced in Nascar, supposedly trying to level the playing field.. If they actually shape them like the real cars, the Toyota's would probably have a serious advantage with their aero package.

I was talking to Joe Ruttman yesterday and he said that the Cup teams are going through more COT chassis than they did with the old car, running them once, or testing them once then selling them for next to nothing. He is pretty close with the James Finch team and he told me that Finch picked up a full rolling chassis (Ganassi, Montoya car) with body hung, all of the brakes, plumbing, everything minus an engine, trans. and seat for $15k and the car only had one day of on track testing, not even a race on it....

Hmm...I wonder why that is. The car was designed to be run at multiple tracks, so you can use your martinsville car at daytona or something like that...strange.

But what's Joe up to nowadays? Isn't he doing R&D stuff? or still frolicking through the truck garage? lol.

Joe said that it is because they are finding ways to lower the center of gravity and move the weight around to different places in the chassis now. He told me that most of the teams were just having to scrap some brand new cars because by the time they get around to actually racing it, it is ancient history.. Basically now if any COT car is in any kind of an accident that bends any of the chassis bars, they throw the cars out, they used to put new front or rear clips on them.. Who knows man, it's a funky sport.

Jow is pretty much semi-retired now. He tried to qualify @ a couple of N'wide races this year, ORP was one of them, but the team was under-funded and just didn't have enough to get it in the show. Just One set of tires is over $2,000 now.... I think he missed making it at ORP by just a hair. He did most of the testing on the COT for Nascar for 2-3 years, but since then he hasn't really done much. I know they had him in one of those "Old school" shootout races not too long ago with guys like Harry Gant and Cale Yarborough.

The one at Bristol?
