Just got home from the ER

Well about 11pm last night i started getting a sharp pain in my side very bad but didn;t think too much into it. Bout a hour later i started vomiting everywhere and i was getting worst and worst so i desided to use my heath insurace for the first time and went to the ER. I've never been to the hospital so i was scared as fuck thinkin they where gonna probe me and shit but it wasn't too bad. They hooked me up to an iv took some blood and and gave me some fucking killer pain med that instintainiously stoped the pain. Then they took a ct scan and saw that i have a FUCKING 5MM KIDNEY STONE. This shit i huge so they gave me all kinds of pain meds and antibiotics and i have a followup on monday with a urologis. Does anyone have any experience with kidney stones??? I'm just not looking forward pissing a 5mm rock out my dick. Another thing is i always thought you got them buy drinking garbage but i drink mostly water and they said its sometimes runs in the family and after your first stone you are more likley to have more throughout life.

Sorry to hear about your stone, 5mm is a whopper!! I've had lots of medical experience with kidney stones and there are tons of options now and most of them depend on where the stone is and what damage it may be causing. Alot of it will also be up to the urologist. There is a machine called lithotripsy that uses sound wave to break up stones from the outside, it is painless and very effective but the stone has to be in certain areas for it to be used. You have to have a cystoscopy, which is a small camera shove up your penis, that can go in and manually retrieve or break up the stone. And there is always the wait and see option, somethings will pass on their own.

Good luck to you and as an ER nurse I am very happy that you had such a great experience at the ER. We get so much of the opposite it is really nice to hear a positive.

My little sister had that done. If she can do it, anyone can. lol

I've passed a number of them. They'll break it up with the sound waves and then you'll have to piss it out. That's something like pissing out a spike covered BB. It's not painful but it burns and you'll think you have to piss a river, run into the shitter and get the famous drip-drip-drip. Head back out to watch TV and feel instantly like you have to piss a river again. Back for more drip-drip-drip. Rinse and repeat.

Glad you got it out without the invasive stuff, and cudo's for seeing a urologist to make sure. Oh yeah and depending on your age the Urologist is probably gonna probe you where it aint fun to be probed, as he will check for prostate problems, and hernias if he does a thorough exam. Just don't be embarassed about being examined. Like my doc tells me when I gimmace, It aint much fun for me either.. :p

Oh boy kidney stones... I had a bout with them last year. Also pissed them out with little problem, but the pain beforehand was excruciating. Lots of swearing for several hours sitting in triage, freaking out other patients. Keep some good painkillers on you at all times from now on, and avoid things fortified with calcium, or calcium supplements (Tums, etc) But your urologist may be able to tell you what kind they are, assuming you can save one and they can analyze it. Not fun times, but knowing can help. I was 19 when I had mine, which is pretty damn young =(
