Saw a 2010 today!

And well it wasn't as bad as I thought it was going to be.I still don't like the rear but I do like the front and thought the interior looked better.

The one I saw was a V6 and the sticker was like $24,000

Over all I think it's ok,but I like the 99-04's better.

GDP 05-13-2009 03:13 PM

Yeah I seen one the other day too, I think it was a GT from what I remember. The rear end lights look like rice.

FTW!

Steeda97 05-13-2009 05:40 PM

My dealership has

a Silver GT vert, with chrome FR500's.
A Kona blue GT Coupe (auto)

and a Grabber Blue with those ugly black wheels.

The grabber blue is much better in person.

jseven 05-13-2009 06:35 PM

That blue that AM just bought, whats it called?

krenogin 05-13-2009 08:43 PM

i seen one on the highway.. it did catch my eye,, but nothing special..

mustangman95gt 05-13-2009 09:17 PM

i see them all over still..not that fascinating

PColav6 05-13-2009 09:23 PM

I want one.

rebelyell 05-13-2009 11:02 PM

At least they don't look like the concept 2010 they were working on. I like them ok, but I still prefer the 99/04 body style. Just something about them, makes me wanna look at em.. Just glad Ford hasn't stopped production of the stang yet..

LOL. I'm just saying. Lets see how many years this new Camaro lasts. Hmm. Why didn't Pontiac make a similar attempt at the Trans Am. Daaam that would have been great. You know similar body style like they did all those years of camaro vs firebird. If Ford would make the Mach 1 again for 2011 and beyond then it may have a chance of keeping Mustang going. But it can't be a gadaam $32.000 car. Make it a mid $20.000 and people will flock to it. And add some gadam power to em. Should be at least some stock option for 400+ HP at or under 30 Grand.. Most buyers don't want to mod, they want it from the factory.. JMHO.. :D

08mustang_gt 05-14-2009 12:06 AM

Ummm...if you want ANYTHING with power under 30k from showroom floor you're insane.

The freakin EVO X is like 31k I believe. That's what I saw on sticker like two months ago. They are going to bring back a 3v 5.0l, I doubt it'll be a mach.

But you'll have a 5.0l 400hp GT and a twin-turbo EcoBoost 3.6l with 365hp in the next few years. Right now it's about recovering and building back up the economy. People can't afford to have the extra "sports" car ATM. But, the time will come. The Mustang always holds true to it's main purpose.... To rip up and spit-out anything else on the streets.

Leonide 05-14-2009 12:15 AM

the mustang survived the recession of the 70's and the 80's, it will survive the recession now. it's just like the Corvette, they can't cut the Mustang, it's Ford's soul.

Except it really doesn't. There are a numerous cars out there that will eat Mustangs on the street that you wouldn't think should be able to. The Mustangs are getting to pricey. A New GT after the options and everything is over 30K. A GT has a hard enough time beating a turbocharged 4cyl for about the same price. When the GTOs came out, they were low 30ks with a LS2 400hp. You might as well cough up the extra 10K or so and get the GT500. During the later years of the Camaro, the SS was getting too expensive and for about 10K or so you could just get a Vette. Mustangs use to be an affordable car with good power. Now there are plenty of V6s out there that are making more hp then our V8s. Shouldn't be that way.

True, but that's because now in order to keep production of the Mustang it has to become a multi-use car. I never said my Mustang can spank anything on the street, especially stock for stock no way. But, I believe eventually it will become a big contender.

Dual-Climate Control, no bucket seats like the Cobras (because many people don't like the way they sit), hydraulic clutches for women so they don't complain about a stiff clutch, it's all to pull in the average person as well. THAT is why a new GT is 30K.

S197's aren't built to be performance cars like the GTOs and Camaros are. It's meant to be a semi-family car that still has some spunk. Now the older 5.0's and the older Mach's and Boss Mustangs were meant for performance but long and behold Ford is too busy trying to capture the market instead of trying to build production-based performance cars.

krenogin 05-14-2009 09:47 AM

I agree, they have to do something to hold market, bringing prices up sadly.. But I looked at a GT500 the other day, and i LOVE THEM! like 05-09, change the front end to a gt500 and its amazing, ,i hate the straight headlight bars, i like em to curve and makes the car look 100000X meaner.

GDP 05-14-2009 03:31 PM

I love EVERYTHING About the 010 mustang EXCEPT those damn tail lights and rear end. The interior is pretty sexy. And so are the body lines.

and yeah the GT500 010s are like pure sex.

They are going to lose a lot of the fans of the car if they try and make it a family car. The mustang was an affordable sporty car. Leave the V6 model to be their "family car".They didn't have any problems selling them like that. Now I mainly see older people driving the 05+s. Maybe they will be a contender one day with the camaro and such, but at what cost? I mean the new V6 camaros cost 28K but they have almost as much hp as a new Mustang GT. Things like that shouldn't happen.

And I didn't say you said anything about beating every car out there. It was just a reference to what you said about the mustang still holding on to it's main purpose of ripping it up and spitting out anything on the street. Just not true these days.

Ford sells way to many of them for them to stop

is 2002 when the camaro died there were 42,000 built ford built 142,000 mustangs that year

last year even with the shitty econ ford sold near 100,000 mustangs

camaro's are almost always faster but in the history of thier competition mustangs almost always out sell them

But, my point is that the mustang has NEVER had as much horsepower as the other high-powered contendors. The very first mustangs were 289s or 302s when the Camaros were big block 396s and 427s. The whole purpose of the mustang was to be a pony car, not a big honking muscle car that could lay down 50 yards of rubber. Not until 1969 when the mustang was bigger (physically) did they put in the 351, 390, and the 428 CJ. But those were all once in a blue-moon options from showroom floor because they were so rare.

The only reason the Mustang has out-lived all of it's other competitors is because it isn't just simply a muscle car. You can also pack-up the family and go for a sunday drive if you want without spending boo-koos of money in gas.

To me it doesn't matter what a car has off of the showroom floor. The whole point of having a sports car is to build it the way you want it. If you're getting spanked by camaros so what, throw on a supercharger and you can hang right with them with almost 2L less.

I believe in the modern world that displacement is not always the way people want to go. Look at the Supra, EVO, WRX, SRT-4, all of them are small displacement but yet are some of the most desired cars. Yes, you'll always have your true and true "muscle" guys but why not take a smaller motor and have power-adders to make up the difference. Obviously it works, I haven't raced a EVO yet that I could beat lol.

I see what you're saying, buy they don't have to throw in a big block or anything. Take your example of the supra. It had a twin turbo 3L was pretty damn fast stock. It didn't have to use a big 'ol engine to be fast. It also has backseats that are just about as roomy as the backseats in a mustang. You can't really pack 4 people in a mustang. Just not what it's designed for. I think the point I'm geting at, is if you are going to be paying all that money for a Mustang, then it better have the power. I would just like to see Ford get more power out of the car and lighten the damn weight. The could keep the power where it is if they just dropped a couple hundred pounds.

audikillsbmw 05-15-2009 02:52 PM

LOL. It's funny to hear you guys complaining about price. My Audi was $54k when it was new, and it only has 300hp :(. So spending $30k on a new Mustang with the same amount of power seems pretty fair to me.

Yeah but mustangs were affordable to the average person and had good power. The power is alright now, but the price is going up. The performance isn't all that great either considering the weight.

Hell the new miatas are lclose to 30K which is ridiculous.

GT71 05-15-2009 03:06 PM

Last year my wife had to have a new 2008 Mitsubishi Eclipse Gt, I tried to get her in a Mustang but she got what she wanted, $34,000.00. I would of rather paid $30,000 for a new GT than the v6 ricer she's driving now.

That's ridiculous. I think it's just part of inflation. I don't think my mustang is worth any more than a regular 04 GT, maybe a little bit but not 5-6ks worth. I would love to see a mustang that has spunk and is still affordable. That's why I seriously hope that Ford either puts a 5.0 in a GT or makes a Mach/Boss model of the 2010.

I think it'll come but things have to get settled first.

My two wishes are a 5.0 resurrection and the RS Focus to get brought over.....Then I could die happy.

JackThe Ripper 05-15-2009 04:19 PM

2004 GT deluxe started around 24k new

2010 GT deluxe shows MSRP beginning 28k.

You get an extra valve... lol... an extra 55 hp, better interior, (2004 interiors were cheap as shit) , better well.. better damn near everything.

Hell my old 2004 GT fully loaded cost me just 28k.

Hate to say it but on power vs price camaro is gonna kick the shit out of the mustang.

The new Mustang GT for 28,000 has 315hp
The new Camaro LS for 23,000 has 304Hp

Thats 11hp less, and $5000 less.... supercharge that LS and its gonna be well over 400HP for the same price as a GT.

Spend just 3k more than on the new GT and you get a SS with 426hp

If for wants to compete they need to beef up the HP or slim down on the price.

2010 Ford Mustang: $20,995
Hyundai Genesis Coupe: $22,000
2009 Dodge Challenger SE: $22,545
2010 Chevy Camaro LS: $22,995
Hyundai Genesis Coupe R-Spec: $23,750
2010 Ford Mustang GT: $27,995
2009 Dodge Challenger R/T: $29995
2010 Chevy Camaro SS: $30,995
2009 Dodge Challenger SRT8: $39820
2010 Shelby GT500: $46,325

GDP 05-15-2009 05:16 PM

Yeah its a fine line to walk between performance and appeal to the masses.

08mustang_gt 05-15-2009 08:18 PM

Personally, I believe it goes into the actual design of the car as well. The GT has much better interior than the new Camaro. The Mustang has pleather (plastic-leather) whereas the Camaro (both that I've seen) have plastic interiors. The sound-dampening in the Camaros blow, even Garage 419 said that. You can hear every pebble you run over.

I'd much rather have something comfortable and fast than something only good for its power. Hell if I wanted that I'd tub out an old notch and drive it everywhere. Ford knows what they're doing. The Mustang has outlived every gen Camaro out there. Same goes here.

rebelyell 05-15-2009 11:22 PM

A chevy dealer down the road has a 2010 camaro, V-6 model, and the sticker is at 32 grand. Yes the price will drop for them in the coming months leading to the V-8 model which will sticker at 35 grand or more.. When you can sell a new performance car for under 30 grand, then you Will sell more. It's all about the 1st number.

My 04 GT in 04 was stickered at $27,900. After very very much haggling I got it for 23,500, and that was with the 7, 75 warranty. Anyone who bought an 04 GT late that year probably saw similar incentives, They were trying to make room for the new 05's. And the 1st 05 I saw was a V-6 and the sticker was 30 grand.. 05 GT's were on backorder and geez I pity anyone who preordered one.

I think the Camaro's will go down in price next year, but if it's under 32 grand for a V-8 model I'd be surprised..

+1 to that. A kid from school who is spoiled out the ass got his parents to pre-order him one when they first announced it's release. His parents paid close to 38k for his, simply because he wanted black with white stripes and black interior which I suppose was the most wanted color combo.....

Mine on sticker was $30,995 and we got it for $22,500 because of kick-backs and the A-Plan. With all the goodies too, even Ford's ridiculous "performance package" which only gave it a 3:55 gear...lol.
