The Joys of Driving a Hoopty!!
As much as I despise driving my gutless wonder, I have found some perks:
1. I can park anywhere and not worry. 2. Non-descript car does draw the attention of law enforecment, this would be more helpful if it actually had a top speed higher than 45. 3. Driving a car with noticable damage makes other drivers think you don't have insurance, thus they stay far away!! 4. Cheap tires. 5. Friends don't ask to drive the hoopty. 6. The teenager doesn't want to borrow it. Any more..... The major drawback....seeing other Mustangs on the road and knowing yours is better!!! |
hoopties ftw!

You don't have women who tell you at the gas pump that 'it must be nice to have your daddy buy you a car', only to put her in her place leaving her with a shocked look on her face and a satisfied smirk on yours. 10. Not having little kids want to look at it, touch it after you have freshly waxed it, and wanting to crawl inside of it. 11. Having better gas mileage. 12. Your father doesn't want to borrow it. 13. Your father doesn't think it can pick up chicks. 14. Your friends are embarrassed to be seen in it, and don't think they are the shit when they are riding with you. 15. You don't have people tailgating you, thinking you are going to haul ass because since you're not in a Mustang that means you're not a lead foot. The major drawback....seeing other Mustangs on the road and knowing yours is better, until you see a Cobra. |
lol
I was hoping to get some add-ons to make me feel better about having to drive the pos. It's hard as hell to walk past the stang every day and get in the dd. |
i have not driven my stang in two weeks and only maybe drove it 20 times all winter.
i have been rocking a 96 Oldsmobile aurora 4.0 dohc v8 with front wheel drive.lol i am sad to say it but, i really like this car. it rides like its on air and i dont have to worry about my snowboard riping the seats or any one keying it.:) |

2001 Mazda 6262, Don't have any pics of the damage but the driver's side is pretty well covered in dents and scuffs.

Sometimes I wish I had a hooptiy or actually just give me a V8 and ill use my v6 as my hoopty... Now that sounds like a good idea.
|
Damn thats a nice Hoopty. Congrats!
|
It was a nice find, only $3400 with 82k. But I don't think the previous owner ever washed or vacuumed it, and it had been in a couple of fender benders that never got repaired. It has absolutely NO power, passing is a no go unless it's a turtle on a flat straight road.

Saying your mustang is better is pretty arogant of you. Better is a personal view.
|
lol...thats not really a hooptie... Id take what you have over this any day..

A couple of my fav's have been mentioned...Not having to worry about parking spaces, and not driving the Mustang every day. My Probe looks decent til you get up real close to it. The paint was badly faded. I wetsanded it with 1000 then 2000 grit paper, then buffed the whole car. Took me all weekend, but it looks a shit ton better than it did. I was planning to paint, but then got the Mustang. Doing the paint job isn't as high a priority now.
I have had the Probe for a year, and it now has 87K on the odometer. Not bad for $1000. :) |
*knows what my next daily driver is going to be*
|
I have half ownership in my brothers DD hooptie...'94 Lebaron vert auto with 150,000 miles, half of the paint missing on the hood, a fairly ripped soft top, and a cracked window...
That owns all of your "hooptie"s |
From Today:
16. You can eat, drink and be merry in the hoopty and spill all you want. 17. Smoking is allowed in the hoopty. |
