Just found out one my best friends throughout high school is gay...

So I found this out tonite. It's really weird, he was one of my best friends from kindergarten to the middle of senior year of high school (we had a fallout at the time) and I NEVER knew.

And since then we would hang out on rare occasions, and we even did last semester.

I sort of feel betrayed because he never told me, and I thought we were good friends.

But at the same time I feel bad because I didn't know he was gay (I thought I would be able to tell if someone was), and then I would always would use words like "gay", "fag", or "homo".

I don't mind if people are gay, I know it's who they are and it doesn't doesn't affect how I think of them, but it's so odd to be in this situation.

...WOW.

ah awkward much.... I'm still waiting for certain individuals i went to high school with to come out of the closet or at least thinking they will.

Friend of mine and my wife came out a few years ago. We always suspected he was but never really knew for sure. Doesn't change a thing as far as being our friend. He's a cool dude who is still a good friend of mine, with no mention of his sexual orientation.. :t:

Stephen4036 02-19-2009 11:39 PM

did he ever suck your dick?

I remember right when I got out of HS maybe a month or so afterwords a guy that everyone thought was gay for years turns out was. It was awesome to find that kinda stuff out. There have been a good 5 or so people who turned out to be gay from my graduating class. Most of them were not surprising considering they never dated a girl at all through HS.

A really good friend of mine just came out about a year or two ago that I was best freinds with up till around HS when we went different ways. Still friends and what not, but its was funny to hear he was gay because I always kinda figured he was. I would talk about girls etc... and he never really had much to say about that subject lol. And I have no problem with homosexuals at all. My parents best freind forever is super gay and we call him "aunt" Tony lol.

The best ever though was that this one guy was 2 years older then me and who was the so called "badass" ,even though he was 5' 10 maybe on a good day, you know the guy who would try to get any girl and always thought he was tough and got in fights etc... and all the freshmen were scared of him etc... well yeah he turns out to be gay. I just heard about that a few months ago and I was like LOLz no wonder why he was so mad all the time hahahaha.

I talked to him for about 5 minutes on the phone yesterday, but I'm probably going to see him sometime this weekend.

I just want to know more.

ya cuz if he was ur best friend from kindergarden - senior year, then i dont think you should just cut him off like that (if you were too). I mean if i found out my best friend was gay, i wouldnt hate him for that. I would do the same to wat ur doing on the post... "I just want to know more" <<<< Exactly wat i would do... good going there man and i hope you dont cut him off as being ur friend

Definitly got the wrong idea from that first sentence

JackThe Ripper 02-20-2009 02:38 PM

i would imagine being gay and coming out of the closet would have to be hard, there is always a chance that some family or friends that mean a lot to you would reject you and never talk to you again.

dont feel betrayed by it, unless you go through that yourself its hard to be a good judge about it.

One of my best friends is gay. He told me about a month after we had met. Definatly a great guy. Although he is not one of those little prancing short-shorts wearing gay dudes that goes shopping with your girlfriend... if he was one of those prancing flamey gay guys i probably wouldn hang out with him

See, that's why I could never tell. All the homosexuals that "came out" from high school are the flamey type, but not him.

All his relationships/flings were cover ups....im shocked.

01FR500 02-20-2009 03:24 PM

My room mate of my freshman year of college was gay. He was pretty much still in the closet then but has taken a step out now. I actually didn't know it or realize till after a whole semester. I always just thought he was a "Momma's Boy", and kinda femanine. I never saw him with a guy or talking about guys or anything like that. Looking back now there were more than plenty of signs that should have given it away right away. His best friend was a girl, he loved to talk and have stupid conversations with my girlfriend, which worked for me because I didn't have to talk haha. He still hasn't told me he is gay, but a few months ago I was over at his apartment and I saw a book on his desk, "10 Things a Gay Man can do to Improve His Life" or something like that, he I saw a "Got Pride?" pin on his backpack. I've seen him talking to guys on campus and he has recent'y gotten his belly button pierced. I kinda wish he would just say it, but he might just think that it's obvious enough that he doesn't need to say it. One of my best friends though.

Edit: Damn, thats a essay.

.

I cant stand those flamboyant gays who define themselves by the fact they are gay. Those idiots are just annoying as shit "Im gay im gay hooray, look at me im gay i do gay things, i can grow a fucking ficcus plant in the himalayas, i like to wear short short shorts and bounce and look at window treatments cause im in your face gay gay gay!"

It sounds like your friend is like my buddy, and doesent define his entire existance by his homosexuality, rather just accepts it as a part of the whole.

My buddy is queer-er than a 3 dollar bill, but he likes to hang out, drink beer, watch UFC, talk about normal guy stuff like tanks, nuclear testing, and football.

the only real difference is when somone walks past him and his eyes trail after the persons ass, dont both turning around cause it aint something yer wanting to see.

lol

^^^ Thats would be weird. The guy I was talking about is actually at my house right now. Were playing the Wii. Earlier he was complaining about Arkansas passing a law that gays can't adopt.

I guess that answers it all for you.

I'm still in disbelief. I mean he had some hot ass. WTF.

It's going to take a while for me to realize this is reality.

Dave04Mustang 02-20-2009 08:12 PM

haha thats crazy I only know one kid from highschool that came out afterward. He ended up on the TV show jerry springer

Black Sunshine 02-20-2009 08:19 PM

I have a friend who I too, have known since kindergarten and I just found out a year ago that he's gay. Although I had never seen him with a girl, he never talked about them and he made no indications that he was gay. He wasn't a good looking guy at all, so I just assumed that was why. He's still the same person to me. There are so many questions I'd like to ask him, like 'when did you realize you were gay' and 'have you known it all along' and things like that, but in the end, it really is none of my business. He doesn't pry into my life, so I don't pry into his.

PColav6 02-20-2009 08:20 PM

I have a couple of gay friends, they're cool guys, one's kind of weird but he's hilarious and great at talking shit. If they're your friend you really don't even think about whether or not they're gay...shouldn't make a difference IMO.

Stephen4036 02-20-2009 08:48 PM

i hate gay people.
