Any Marines in Here?

Hey, got a quick question. My little bro just left for Parris Island on Dec. 29th. He just sent us all his info about where to send mail and what to send/not to send etc. It said no magazines, newspapers or porno, but it said nothing about personal pictures. I was just wondering if I could send him a few pictures of stuff thats goin on around here. I Guess the worst that could happen is they take them away right? Thanks, Semper Fi!

swervo 01-10-2009 03:26 PM

Yes you can send personal pictures if you want. He will be able to keep those in his footlocker. Just make sure the pictures are in good taste, ie no gang stuff, half naked girls, drugs in the pics, etc etc. Write to him as much as you can, he will appreciate it. We were always looking forward to letters from home.

Hey thanks, yea i plan on writing as much as i can. I was planning on sending him a picture of my new rifle he hasnt seen, along w/ the terrible target shooting i did today at the range:(.

swervo 01-10-2009 03:49 PM

That should be fine then.

PColav6 01-10-2009 03:59 PM

Are you currently deployed, swerv?

Stephen4036 01-10-2009 04:24 PM

No, I'm currently with a training squadron now. I did hit my 10 year mark on the 4th. Man I'm old now. :p

+1 Marines. I guess +2 since your brother is in also.:D What type aircraft do you work on? or do you get to work on them all? I was a UH-1 crewchief (Army) and our avionics techs were our best friends. Thank you for you and brother's service and committment.

speaking of...we had quite a few kids get some half naked pictures from girls back at home. Our DI's ate that up. The pictures were handed around to everyone...lol...it sucked but its funny after the fact. Dont send food though. Send cough drops, those things are like gold in boot camp, and maybe some stamps so he can write back. I'm just at my 3 year mark, reenlisting though.

y'all have the same deal as the air force when it comes to what people can receive while they are in boot camp...

letters helped with morale no one liked being the guy that didnt receive shit while they were there. in the air force we couldnt recieve any pictures but we did get them at the end and the naked ones were passed around and OMG some of them bitches were nasty (in a bad way). that was 6 years ago so things may have changed. i got my CJR last year, CJR is my job reservation, and its good till august 2010 so i still have lots of time to decide if i want to stay or GTFO!

my hands go down to you marines i couldnt do what you guys do...im a wrench turner and wouldnt trade it for anything. swervo i work on aerospace ground equipment so you know how shitty that equipment is.

mpt_1962 01-16-2009 08:47 AM

i was almost aviation electrician...but ended up getting tactical data network system specialist

I understand your pain. I used to be a junior Marine. Now that I've been a while and picked up rank, there is alot of BS that goes on, that non of the junior troops see. I try to take care of all my Marines and make sure they're happy or if they mess up, they'll be punished. I get to work before my guys and leave after they do.

Thats some funny shit. Yea we just got a letter from him the other day, he said he has no voice so maybe cough drops are a good idea. Are power bars ok to send? He asked for them in his letter so we sent some.

No i wouldnt send power bars until the end. The main purpose of boot camp is to break you down and make you depend on each other. If one guy is getting power bars and gets to eat them and nobody else, it creates problems....SO....they collect them all and at the end of boot camp pass them out to everyone. Well they didnt exactly "pass them out", we had them "tossed" at us...lol. But send them more towards the end and put them in a SMALL box and label it "for the Plt". Then they will all get it, plus not many people send boxes of things that like the guys will love it.
