Things I have learned on the internet.

OOhhh... man....

i wish work would pick up a little... the last several weeks it has been extremly slow at work, it always is around this time. So I have had a LOT of downtime, maybe, 6 hours a day im sitting around Bs'ing with co workers or messing around online.

The internet truly is the worst, because of the horrible thing called "Comments" that you can can attach to damn near any type of media, story, or blog out there.

Every time i read an article or see a video and look at the "comments" section i lose faith in the intelligence of mankind.

i truly miss a world where i could look something up and not have the half witted opinions from the dumbest people on earth.

I have been messing around, and here are a few of the things i have learned from all these morons just today.

1) Every Video on Youtube and Break is "FAKE" and if you attribute even the slightest credibility to ANY video EVER on the internet then you are a complete moron. Yeah, the guy who puts the controller of his Wii through his LCD TV? FAKE! The over zealous dolphin that humps the lady at seaworld? FAKE! The kangaroo pleasuring itself behind the reported on the golf course? FAKE! Thankyou Dumbass Break.com viewers for showing me that everything on earth is fake.

2) The Nikon D40 DSLR camera is no better than a cheap walmart disposable camera, and is only good for pics of the kids at soccer practice.... Thank you dedicated Canon user!

3) 911 was staged by the US government! ....Thank you Conspiracy Nut!

4) Anyone who thinks the "Sword of Truth" book series was as good as, or better than the Wheel of Time series is either 13 years old or the stupidest person in the planet.... Thank you Mr "ive never had a sexual experience that existed outside the pages of a fantasy book"

5) It is the american dream to be gay, everyone who claims to be a heterosexual is a closet homo...... Thankyou Chris Crocker for your insight. I better break the news to my wife, but i guess it is ok, she must be a closet dyke.

So, thankyou internet, for providing an outlet for those who have an opinion to express it, no matter how fucking stupid it is.

Thank you Internet, for giving a means for every halfbrained dipshit on earth the opportunity to discredit everything they see in hopes it will attribute validation of thier own intelligence.

ANyone else?

ANyone run across something on the internet that is so profoundly stupid and petty that it gives youa headache?

Good god, after surfing the web for several hours it really makes me appreciate all the posters on Mustangboards.com

If i were to describe the online communities i see, every now and then you find one that actually sits up there above with intelligent discussion and intelligent members, but once you step off those grounds beware, it is a sharp dropoff into stupidville and you really have to trudge around to find another oasis.

^^^ FAKE!

I didn't find this on the internet but it also applies.

I was filling out my "new hire" paperwork at my new job today and about halfway through the knee deep stack of papers I came across this question at the top of one page:

"Can you read?" Yes____ No____"

Would have given Jacks left nut to have a camera.

JackThe Ripper 12-11-2008 07:55 PM

lol, thanks

Think of the internet as a big community shithouse where everyone takes a dump. Stupid people shit, smart people shit, and everyone in between. It is our job to only pick out the best corn and butter beans out of this big pile and sometimes you get lucky and find a Baby Ruth. Remember, believe none of what hear and only half of what you see.

I've never read the sword of truth but the wheel of time books are pretty cool i may have to read the sword of truth now though

edit: it sucks that Robert Jordan had to go and die before he could finish the series:mad:

I have become much more cynical, and I didn't even think that was possible. Although there is no shortage of complete and total morons where I live, they seem to be more prevalent on the internet.

I have learned that most of the population was either high, fell asleep, or just plain suck at English. I honestly judge people by the way they type. I know that's horrible, but I can't help it. My brother's girlfriend types like a fucking idiot, and she is one. It is fine if you don't capitalize everything or spell perfectly, but dammit, a little punctuation, attempts to spell properly and halfway decent grammar goes a loooooong way. When people type with even a shred of decency, I think of them as more intelligent than someone that constantly uses abbreviations, short hand, and mixes LiTtLe letters with BiG letters. It just looks stupid as hell, not to mention it is a pain in the ass to read.

Holy crap Robert Jordan is dead? Damn that blows. Lol. Last time i read through the books was maybe 4-5 years ago and i read path of daggers (i think) when it was new.

well so much for that series huh?

Sword of Truth in my view is better. there are a lot of parallels, but the characters are way more likeable in SOT, and i think it is far bettter written, and ALL the books are out now, i think there are 12, and like WOT they are about 600-800 pages each. The main reason i did not like Wheel of Time is cause every guy is a paranoid asshole and every woman is a condensending bitch, with the only exception being Perrin. I hated damn near EVERY character in the book, if they would have worked together they could have reduced it all down to a single book.

Oh yah, there is a series based off the Sword of Truth, called "The legend of the seeker" please do not bother with that garbage, it is a total urder of the origional story.

yah im a dork too i guess

I learned a big lesson from searching the web about 5 or 6 years ago when I stumbled into Ogrish.com. At first it was shock and awe, then it became kinda like, what else can there be to shock me, well if you dig deep enough into the web, you will find out how much you can handle mentally. When you see that certain clip that just eats at you day and night because it was either so shocking, or so vile, or so whatever, then you realize how powerful the web reallly is. Just think of the young minds that can actually be corrupted because of this stuff. Anyway i don't venture to the dark side of the web unless I'm doing research.

As far as comments to vids on U-tube and such, LOL, there's always an idiot in every crowd, and i will usually post a response such as; I hope your either gay or impotent because the world doesn't need more dumbasses like you. Or I might go to the extreme and post : Do us all a favor and kill yourself now, because while you are alive you serve no purpose to humankind. Stuff like that lol.. :p

Nofire 12-13-2008 11:52 AM

Haha, I actually like reading the posts because of the stupidity involved in writing them. Sometimes they're better than the actual video or picture that they're posted too.

As for the WOT and SOT series', They each have their ups and downs. Jack has it head on for the WOT series; they just evolved into sniveling characters. At first I REALLY liked the SOT, but after a few books The main character becomes WAY too preachy for me. That being said, I'm OCD and can't stop reading a series once I start it.

Maybe being poor and having to make GI Joe bases out of my moms shoeboxes messed up my head and now I have to buy everything that I could not have as a child  If thats not good enough reason how about that I like Halo. I have several Halo toys that I will display in a game room including those guns. You never know I might be rocking a MJOLNIR armor next year from nightmare armor :D

For the record they sound and react like in the game plus you can use it for laser tag.

I'm the same way with other things. I like nascar, and I currently have about $2500 invested into a nascar die-cast collection...

venom 12-14-2008 09:06 PM

I would watch nascar on TV all the time. Then Mark Martin left Roush Racing and I got stuck with at bunch of stuff with Martins name on it. I stopped after that. I like to collect stuff just like some of you. I have stopped though since I dont have any space to collect anything esle.

Badfish 12-14-2008 10:55 PM

I've never really understood collections.

To me its not the point of having the whole collection but the exciting part is the hunt in finding the items you need to complete it.
