dodge durango

so looking for a winter suv/truck of some sort, happened to find a 1999 dodge durango, has every option available in 99' has the 5.9 V8, the tailgate has some rust other than that it runs and drives great 4x4 works everything is good. has new brakes and break lines and a new ac compressor. the price that i have the lady down to is pretty cheap for what im getting...my question to you guys is whats the track record for those motors? this is the bad..it has 161k miles on it!!! thats the reason id be getting it so cheap. Im not to familiar with the dodge motors but are they known to run up quite a few miles and be ok?

I wouldn't do it, but that's just me.

Durango's have had reliability problems for a long time, that's feesibly why they stopped making anything that even resembled them.

What kind of a deal is she making?

they still make them, granted all dodges have a new style to them but they do still make the durango. she was given another car from her father or somthing passing away so she decided to sell the gas guzzler so shes not really out to make a buncha money on it, i have her down to 1800 right now but im pretty sure i could knock another hundred or two off with ease

Hmm.. I could have sworn that they had written the Durango off for '08. I guess not.

All I know is that my brother had a late 90's model Durango and it honestly was a POS. Was the same description you gave, 4wd, 5.9L, fully loaded etc. If I remember right it crapped out the trans. the day before he traded it in on his trail blazer..

I sold a Saturn SL2 to get my Mustang. THAT car was AWESOME. Never had a problem with it, at all. It also had traction control and was a breeze to drive in the snow.

i've heard bad things about the transmissions. I used to be a car salesman and we'd get them in from time to time and almost every single one of them went off to auction because it was too much money to fix them according to the shop in the back. 1800 isn't bad though but still....i'd keep looking around
