Reduce Speed Limit??
I'm sure Randy will love this....Cali is leading a movement to get the Feds to reduce speed limit to 60mph
"Every 5 miles per hour you drive over 60 is like paying an additional 30 cents per gallon for gas, according to a government fuel economy site, www.fueleconomy.com. And that figure is based on gasoline at $4.08 a gallon." Apparently Nixon reduced the speed to 55mph during the 1970's oil crisis. So what do you guys think? |

i already accelerate slowly to waste less gas.... I'm sure my car hates me for it. but I can average 25 MPG with my intentionally light foot (figured that out this fill up) so I'm happy. |
pointless law IMO. If you can't afford the gas when you go over 60 stay off the interstates :D. In all seriousness though I think thats an extremely stupid reason to lower a speed limit. There suppose to be set for safety not for peoples wallets.

I doubt it's to save people money I think it's more because the fed is trying to conserve oil becuase it's going to run out sooner or later.

I work at a gas station (for the summer) and obviously gas prices come up a lot... some interesting insight here and there but all I can say is the most logical information points towards lower prices. |
I can see where people who live in the city and never leave will have no problem with this. For everyone else...hope you like road trips haha.

Sounds stupid...
|
all i see are more speeding tickets.
|
Sounds pretty gay, but that is basically what cali is.

I dont trust the hippies, they were after all on drugs :smokin:. More money for speeding tickets and what ever happen to freedom apparantly there is none in Cali. I guess they like to be told what to do and how to do it. There are other countries that you can move to for you drones.
|
that would make road trips hell!!! heck 75 seems slow when you are cruising through the southwest and you can see just plain nothing but desert for 150 miles + !

I think you all make good points, and I'm not saying I agree with it.....but you can't deny that your fuel economy will increase if you slow down. I guess according to some of you there shouldn't be speed limits in neighborhoods or school zones either.....that might hinder your freedom. ha ha

if it goes down to 55 im going to need a radar detector......

It makes sense, but at the same time people are still going to drive over the speed limit. The speed limit is 65 now, but the average person drives 70-75. If someone wants to drive 65 or 70 and waste their gas, then it should be up to them. It's their money.
