Well I've finally graduated from HS!

Yet I have absolutely no feelings of excitement, pride or any will to celebrate and party or do any of that crap. I don't feel that I've accomplished anything, and I don't feel I deserve the ~$600 I was given and the laptop my parents are going to buy me. I feel like going to sleep. What's wrong with me?

JackThe Ripper 05-28-2008 06:46 PM

yer mad cause you dont have a boyfriend to share the happy times with?

03_GT 05-28-2008 06:49 PM

Does that mean I'll have a Mach 1 in 2 years? :D

JackThe Ripper 05-28-2008 07:06 PM

Ok, my smartass comment aside.

dude, you definatly should be proud, you got through the first educational hurdle, also did it at the hardest time where you appreciate school the least and all of your classmates are unhappy to be there. College if you take that route you will find a lto better, because people are there because they WANT to be and yer less likely to find all the apathy.

a HS diploma is worth its weight in gold, it is not gonna really get you anywhere, but it will NEVER stop you from getting somewhere like a GED can.

Take the money, take the laptop, in my view you deserve it.

Im not sure what you expected though? i guess i felt the same when i graduated. It was just another event that passed, just like any other.

you know the funny thing is how freakishly linear life can be.

You are in highschool, so you somehow thing thart when you are in college that you will be smarted and know more, and eventually you will have a career and you will think differently, and one day you will have a family and think you might be a certain way and think differently.

then you get to that point, married, kids, over 30, career, mortgage, all that stuff, and you realize that yer the same guy you always have been but less stupid, and you thinkg about yourself the exact same way you always have.

i think that is when you truly become an adult, you finally realize that nobody really knows better than you for your own life, and age itself does not mean wisdom and maturity, and that even a 65 year old person looks at themselves the same wat a 15 year old looks ad themselves, but they view others differently.

its a fun ride.

gotMACH04 05-28-2008 07:06 PM

i got mine when i was still in high school

SnTBakosFinest 05-28-2008 07:24 PM

lol, Cola I was that way too man. I was sleeping by 10 my grad night..and just spent the summer dicking around pretty much..

Come fall you're going to be like "woah" or.. this time next year, when everyone else is graduating..

I've been out of school for two years..and it still feels funny to talk about people graduating and stuff..

But, as far as the gifts, its like a tradition man. In my four years of highschool, I was expelled from school twice, and I barely had the credits to graduate, but I still got stuff, like I had accomplished a real feat..

Just take it, smile, and enjoy your summer bro.

PColav6 05-28-2008 08:08 PM

Alright, thanks guys. Maybe it will hit me tomorrow or something. I'm going to put the money in the bank for now but might order an exhaust or something in the coming weeks..I guess I need to start looking for an actual job too.

And holy shit. lol

PureStang 05-28-2008 08:18 PM

yea, i was the same way too...i felt like it was just another marker. but now that my first year of college is over, i kinda wish i enjoyed it more...not saying i didnt, i woke up in a house i dont remember being at but still..lol

it will hit you eventually...

and +1 to what jack said.

01FR500 05-28-2008 08:34 PM

I didn't feel like I had accomplished anything great either when I graduated HS. It was fun but I knew that I had several more years of college ahead of me and that kinda killed it. HS now seems like it was such a breeze in how fast it went by, and by how easy it was, so it doesn't even feel like it is something worth being proud of.

JackThe Ripper 05-28-2008 08:42 PM

Highschool sucks. lol.

whats funny is looking at highschool classmates 10-15 years down the road where they are nice and settled into adulthood.

I was kind of a freak/wierdo/goth kinda guy in highschool. wanst really popular but definatly notorious. I went to a very preppy highschool.

anyways, about 4 - 5 years ago i was seeing this chick who was going through massage school, turns out one of her classmates was a little brother of the chick who was the captain of the cheerleading team of my graduating year.

she was so freakin hawt back in the day, i knew she was gonna be at my girls graduation for her little bro. I ended up seeing her there. looked like she swallowed a pregnant hippo, i mean this chick was fucking fatter than hell.

And she actually had the audacity to look right at me and point to the top of her head and smile (i have pretty thin hair up top, i keep it shaved, but in highschool i had long hair)a

I coulda easily made fun of her being all fat, but honestly i just felt bad for her. she was one of those people who are unfortunate enough to have the best years of thier life in highschool. The rest of her life would suck compared to highschool, she was in her mid 20;s and so far past her prime it is rediculous.... just sittin around waiting to die.

while me on the other hand, my years in highschool sucked, but the rest of my life just keeps getting better and better with every year.

Steeda97 05-28-2008 09:32 PM

High school was awesome. I miss it lol. You really should enjoy it. It sucks because your not really going to see alot of the people your used to seeing everyday.

Man the night of my graduation i didn't go to bed until 10 the next morning!

PureStang 05-28-2008 10:03 PM

dont even ask me what time i went to bed...all i know is that my graduation was on a friday night and planned to spend the weekend at a friends house. dont remember saturday much, woke up in another house (not my friends) and went home.lol

rebelyell 05-28-2008 10:54 PM

PCola, You should be proud to get your HS diploma, You, Sir are on your way to adulthood. Without a diploma you would probably be destined for a sanitation, or food service type Career, Not a job, but a Career. At least now you have an opportunity to get your foot in the door. Even without a college degree you can still take technical courses for your career of choice. Tech institutes are everywhere, and they offer many choices. But without that HS diploma, you are dead in the water for finding a decent paying wage. Congrats, young man. And congrats to all of our other graduating seniors of 2008. I just found out my 15 yr old son passed the 9th grade. So I'm gonna be pulling hard for him to get his diploma. It's way to easy for kids to loose that most important step in your life.. The dropout rate is too high.,and they should not allow a child to decide to dropout of school at 16 yrs old.. They should make school mandatory until HS graduation.. Well done all of you in the class of 08. Be Proud.. :t:

Highschool was great I partied all the time, still got decent grades played football and worked on my truck and fucked around with my freinds all the time doing burnouts almost going to jail etc.... and of course the girls from back then lol happy times. HS was the best time of my life for sure so far. No worries hardly at all and plenty of partying. You must have not done many fun things i guess?

Lol...

I guess things all depend on the school and stuff. Highschool for me was just lame. It was a bunch of snobby materialistic rich preppy kids. I went ther because i was supposed to.

Nothing in highschool panned out to mean jack shit, the only thing i got out of it was a crappy education and a highschool diploma, other than that, it was just bullshit, and not a single scrap of it really meant anything or held anythign of tru value.

the military right after highschool was a hell of a lot more better. then the civilian life thereafter just keeps getting better and better year after year.

i dont look back and think about how awesome highschool was.

m too busy enjoying how awesome my current life is.

:D

Steeda97 05-29-2008 02:37 PM

I was apart of the preppy crowd but I'm not materialistic, nor snobby. Alot of my friends were though. I'm pretty sure we had the most fun out of everyone in high school. Partied all the time, always had something to do.

High school was great. lol.

blk00stang 05-29-2008 02:43 PM

Yeah I graduated last year and I didn't do any thing in celebration and didn't feel accomplished. But you will come around, when college was getting ready to start I realized I better hurry up and celebrate before I have to actually do homework lol. But college is much better trust me.

Torrid Red 05-29-2008 04:35 PM

Grads, off to college are we?

jjtgiants 05-29-2008 04:47 PM

its for sure a big deal, but maybe you are bummed cause you know you will be going right back to school after summer...assuming you are going to college. Or you are bummed because you know you've entered the real world and it isn't all that great! ha ha ha.

If you are going to college I'd be excited about that because those will be the best years of your life for sure.

gotMACH04 05-29-2008 04:50 PM
