dealership abuse

Brought the car into the dealership maintenance shop to get inspected and have the gears reset because it was getting a little noisy in 4th gear. Later on in the day i get a phone call from a friend asking where the musatng is. I say its at the dealership getting some work done. Come to find out, he was on the expressway and saw the car split traffic at 100mph with two of the ford techs in it. He saud that they were driving like absolute lunatics. When I picked up the car it had no gas in it AND OVER 20 MILES were put on the car. The tech did admit to driving over the speed limit but nothing else.

Obvious, talk to the manager and get his dumbass fired. He admitted to driving it, and driving above the speed limit, that alone should be enough, but when you can prove he put over 20 miles on it and you have witnesses saying he was cruising like that, it's in the bag.

Zaff03GT 05-07-2008 06:17 AM

the service manager was the first person we went to. Unfortunatley this is the managers "best tech" so he only gave him a warning.

Nofire 05-07-2008 06:50 AM

Don't pay for the service then. If you raise enough hell about it, they'll waive all fees to get rid of you.

krazypony 05-07-2008 06:51 AM

I would be raising holy hell, I would have them paying for everything and then getting them fired as well.

What would they do if those arse's got clipped in traffic and wrecked the car then!

Crimsonred02 05-07-2008 06:54 AM

Exactly. Don't pay for it either, tell them you are not going to pay a tech to fix your car and then take it on joyrides flying in and out of traffic putting your car at risk. Tell the manager that doing such is stealing and if you have to you will get the police involved.

Dave04Mustang 05-07-2008 07:28 AM

yeah just refuse to pay for it. If you go to the actual people that run the dealership they will care a ton more than the service manager. If they would have crashed it would have been the dealerships liability so since the service manager doesn't seem to care talk to someone higher up in the food chain :D. In the meantime if you paid with a credit card just cancel the payment/dispute. You may have to deal with it for a while because nothing moves quick but it will be worth it. I would be pissed.

ok, we ended up not having to pay for any of the labor costs, just the oil for the rear end and the state inspection. Over all im just really glad that my car wasnt destroyed and they didnt kill anyone else or themselves in the process. As you guys know with the amount of time and money that goes into our mustangs they just are not replaceable.

I'd be willing to bet he was on the other end of it....

jjtgiants 05-07-2008 03:52 PM

I had the same sort of thing happen to me when I had my mach....I remember checking the mileage before dropping it off and when I came back it looked like the gas guage was much lower than when I dropped it off....sure enough they drove it 14 miles, but god knows how hard they drove it during those 14 miles. I complained, but since I didn't have any witnesses they claimed it was a test drive to diagnose the problem.

Bwhipple 05-08-2008 04:10 AM

Whenever I take my car somewhere where this is possible. I take a piece of paper with the cars current milage to the gauge area. Worked so far.
