Do 1999 Mustangs have tweaters on the front dashboard?

All I see is door speakers and back speakers?

venom 06-16-2005 05:52 PM

Tweeters came with the Mach system and they are on the doors opposite side of side mirrors.

trickedoutstangg 06-16-2005 05:54 PM

I have the 1999 stopck v6 coupe haha

And Im not seeing any tweeters.

trickedoutstangg 06-16-2005 05:54 PM

MattJ 06-16-2005 05:57 PM

Mach 460 is an option, so by the sounds of it, you dont have it.

oh well

I don't need tweaters im getting 2 new door speakers with 3 tweeters on them ahha and im getting 2 12inch audiobahn subwoofers put in so that should do.

venom 06-16-2005 06:39 PM

Those are not good for the front as tweeters are directional and need to be mounted towards the drivers ear not leg like you are going to have it.

MattJ 06-16-2005 06:48 PM

3 tweeters in your door speakers? What are you, speaker man or something?
lol

Thats such a selling gimic its not funny, but I guess it works to those who dont know any better.

I think he meant its a 4way speaker.

Lances03SVT 06-16-2005 07:14 PM

4 way speakers are very nice.

Jack The Ripper 06-16-2005 08:01 PM

The mach 460/1000 dont have "tweeters"
its kind of like a BOSE setup. It has 2in drivers which handle the High mids on up.

Kind of a crappy setup honestly, you just cannot get a 2 in driver to put out high end like you can with a small tweeter.

As far as stock systems go it is pretty good, as far as stereo systems in general goes, they arent really anything to scream about.

Mine came with the mach 1000. If i was ordering a stang, i'd probably just get the very very base system and put in my own custom sound system that would kick the crap out of it. But for now it is good enough.

In fact, the only thing the Mach systems really do right is to use outboard amps instead of those crappy little cheesy amps built in the head unit.

ThePunisher 06-16-2005 08:53 PM

No highs..
No lows..
Must be Bose..

Jack The Ripper 06-16-2005 09:03 PM

That is so true it is freaky.

I read a paper published online by this guy who bought a used Blowse Acraptimass 15, he sat there with a spectrum analyzer and other various test tools, and concluded BOSE accroustimass systems only cover roughly 60% of the audible range.
They are also made with very cheap materials.

The only remarkable thing about BOSE is thier marketing strategy and how they have convinced most people that thier systems are not only worth more than a steaming loaf of dog crap, but actually worth spending thousands of dollars. That itself is absolutly brillitant. Good luck finding a BOSE demo setup that is anywhere near the competition so you can do a/b comparisons.

Cant say much about thier 201/701/901 series, but i know they dont use tweeters, the same crappy 2 inch drivers.

I worked at Circuit City for 7 years and can't say I ever heard any bose setup that was impressive by any means. Nor did I hear any sales people ever say anything good about them other than good spiffs. The idea of using two 4 1/2 drivers in a ported enclosure for the lows is a joke to me. Seperate component speakers are essential to getting quality sound. You need at least 3 drivers(preferably 4)from 20khz to 20hz to not over work one paticular driver and distort the sound. Some audio people will remember the Bose 901s from years back. (9) 3 1/2 dual cone drivers in each speaker cabinet. Explain to me how they can produce a 10khz tone and 50hz tone at the same time accurately. Aint happening.

where am I supposed to mount my tweeters? And I found some 400 rms audiobahn 6x9's are they worth getting im not sure the headunit can ever power them?

MattJ 06-17-2005 11:06 AM

mach 460 that ford offers MURDERS the bose system that GM offers. Well all except the bose system that the cadillac XLR has... That setup is NICE. Then again thats a 75,000 dollar car, it better have a nice audio setup.

As far as I know 6x9s won't fit without cutting. You need 5x7s. Or a component set with some 5 1/4s you could make a mounting plate for to put in 5x7 hole. 400 watts rms on some 6x9s, I question that.

trickedoutstangg 06-17-2005 11:20 AM

alright bro so on my v6 mustang what speakers do i need 4x6's for the doors what do i need for the back?? And will a component set do the job what does that consist of?

4.6 Love 06-17-2005 11:28 AM

I don't have the mach system on my GT:rolleyes:...:(

MattJ 06-17-2005 04:08 PM

Ya, as if the 3 quarters inch couldnt hit as high as the half inch and the half inch couldnt hit as high as the quarter inch... lol
pointles...

This is a really bad pic since its my mobile phone plus its dark. I will eventually cut a hole to put it in or make one out of glass. What you do is use double sided tape 3m to just stick it on if you dont want to cut into your trim piece. Make sure you prep area good with alcohol and remove all traces of dirt and oil if not it will not hold. I mounted a 5 1/4 component on the door

Here is the setup you need.

trickedoutstangg 06-17-2005 08:48 PM

How big are the speakers in the back of a mustang? And how big are the door speakers? Are they the same size? I'm thinkin about gettin good speakers and setting them up on vocal so i can hear the lyrics over the bass, because im putting in 2 12inch audiobahns.

MattJ 06-18-2005 12:58 AM
