How Come No One Makes This Hood?

1 Attachment(s)
why the heck doesn't someone make the FR500 Hood!!!!???!!?!?

I love this hood, and think it would look sick on any 99-04 Mustang.

and I love that front bumper as well...someone needs to get off they ass and start makin' them!

hood is ok, a lil different but the bumper is awful

Ford Racing made that hood for FR500 race cars...they made quite a few of them...there's gotta be one out there somewhere for sale.

another view: keep in mind, the reason they made this hood was to match the elongated front fenders which are there because of the lengthened wheelbase of the FR500 race car...that hood will not fit on a stock Mustang. notice the distance from the front of the wheel arch to the front of the door seam...also notice the extra piece of side moulding. thats a longer distance than a stock Mustang.

yep but surely someone could just make a plain jane mustang hood without any scoops or insets, or anything, and make a front piece that comes down over the grille. kinda like the old 87-93 mustangs.

can't be that hard to make your own if you're a company that makes and sells fiberglass hoods

and if you notice, the distance from the headlights to the fender flares on the front quarter panel are way shorter on the FR500 than on a stock 99-04 mustang.

start emailing hood manufacturing companies. maybe you could get a one off...for a price of course.

i read a thing on mustang world a while back about how they moved the suspension forward 5 inches or so to give it a balanced 50% to 50% weight ratio.

its really a shame that they never made this a production car...this thing was like the ultimate N/A mustang. It made like 415hp/400tq without any s/c, turbo, or nitrous. Definitely a landmark in N/A Modular power.

It really would have almost negated the production of the 2007 and up Shelby GT500 as well if it had been production.

well...you can make your own. Ford sells a 5.0 "Cammer" motor.

why do that when i can just take my motor, have it pulled, and put in a forged stroker crank, bore it out, put some forged pistons rods, and other forged internals, and throw an s/c on it for relatively the same price and get the same hp or better out of it? :D

just thought I'd inform you that a N/A high hp modular motor existed straight from Ford. thats all.

The reason no makes it is because it blocks the grill opening where our production cars get the most air from for cooling the car down and the a/c condenser. With that hood it wouldnt be hard to see your car running really hot and the a/c not working well. Thats why no makes it.

And there are 281ci 4v cars making over 415rwhp n/a. The most recent i can think of is a guy on svtperformance who had a high compression (i belive 11:1) motor with the full FR500 heads, intake, setup from fordracing and with the usual bolt ons made 450ish rwhp. Its a nasty car has a 175shot on it also. He rapes pullied cobras on rolls. Cool setup but its sooo much money for the FR500 heads, intake setup from ford racing.

I will see if i can find a few videos of him so you can see how fast that package really makes a car.\

found it:

there is always a solution to every problem, sometimes it just requires thought to make it possible

if it's got a 175 shot, then it's not an n/a car.

im talking all motor, no turbo, no nitrous, no s/c's.

hmmmmm...doesn't seem to bother the 87-93 Fox Body Mustangs all that much?

my 91 never ran hot.

so now I'd like to know what the difference is between the fox hood above and the FR500 hood pic?

spike_africa 10-06-2007 08:47 PM

He doesnt use the nitrous in that video where he runs the 03 cobra. He posts on svt sometimes its a cool car, but way to much money in that n/a setup. He makes 450ish on the motor alone.

The FR500 is an awesome car, let alone in '99. It's the reason for my username.
