Back to School..

I have a couple questions for you college folks this has been on my mind a lot lately to go back to school and get a degree.. im 20 now turning 21 in febuary and have been thinking about going to this community college down the street and getting a degree in electrical and computer engineering... this community college like most community colleges is 2 years and after the 2 years ill get my associates degree in science for completing this with an option to transfer over to a 4 year college in order to get my Bachelors.. my question is does anyone know what type of jobs/career I could make out of this.. i've always have a fascination with computers and electrical stuff.. I took electrical in highschool and enjoyed it... neither of my parents went to college so im pretty much on my own to make this happen and any advise to point me in the right direction would be much appricaited!!

DO IT!

Unless you have some huge get rich quick plan, go to college and get some kind of degree. Nothing will get you in the door faster, especially with a specialized degree like that. Electrical engineers make BANK money even just starting out, and the jobs are always in demand. Computers are the future :)

At 99% of traditional schools yes. there are a couple trade schools, (i think devry is one) with accelerated programs

College FTW! Do it! You will regret it in ten years when your taking orders from some shmuck of a boss who dont know his ass from a hole in the ground, and your making 10 to 15 bucks and hour to listen to other peeps telling you what to do all the time! Yes, even with a college degree you will still have a boss, but at least you will make decent living to take orders from that shmuck!

sounds like a good option. You could always do the 2 yr program then a company will hire you on an apprentice program. ( your foot is in the door). Believe it or not I personally think Americas future in manufacturing is on the upswing. Even with Nafta, people are realizing that quality suffers when products we use here, in the US are outsourced to foreign companies. Get some experience in any field you are into and you should do well in the future. Good luck. It's a rough time for domestic anything right now.. :t:
